webfact
Picture: Siam Rath The parents of a 12 year old child have gone to the Sri Racha police over an incident at a Surasak sub-district school that left their daughter in hospital for six days. Surat Pree-udom, 36, and his wife Pojaman, 40, took their child along with a medical certificate from Somdej hospital. They asked for action to be taken against a homeroom teacher called Panida (surname withheld). They told the police that their daughter had said that there had been an incident in class where ink from a pen ended up dirtying a table. As punishment the teacher had allegedly demanded that the whole class perform 60 squat thrusts, reported Siam Rath. That evening, May 31st, the child had leg swelling and fever and was admitted to the hospital where she spent six days. The mother said that parents trust teachers with their children. She accepted they could be naughty but kids are kids and shouldn't be subjected to a teacher's anger. She didn't want this to happen to another child. Police Major Natcha Klancheua took the case as police prepared to gather further evidence and interview the teacher involved. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-06-08 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Popular Post Iamfalang
I was a "PE teacher" a long time ago for a few months, and I asked my kids to run ONE time around the 400 m track. walking was OK, but try to run. 10/40 kids tried, and one kid was amazed by how he felt after exercising. One girl was super exhausted (I think all around 14 years old), but was fine. Nobody said anything to me, but I decided it's best to go back to badminton and table tennis. When I was 14, I was running almost 10 km and perhaps feeling a little sore the next day. No smartphones then...... anyhow, I've heard of a few stories like this and possibly the result of a horrible sugar diet plus 23.5 hours a day on their phone. Yes, 60 squats is excessive and wrong. fire the teacher, sure. But hospitalized for six days? my point is kids appear to be much more fragile than before. not saying this is right, but 6 days? Don't quite agree with this. Teachers shouldn't lose their temper, and they shouldn't allow anger to cloud their judgement, but some kids only behave once a teacher gets angry with them. There's of lot of pushing to test boundaries with kids. 1

Popular Post Myran
If a kid gets hospitalized for six days after doing 60 squats, there's something seriously wrong with said kid's health. 1

Mental That was what I was thinking. We had to do star jumps, push-ups, squat jumps, etc etc...and (the horror) run about for one hour in the snow and wind in just a pair of nylon shorts and a thin T shirt while kicking a ball about. Perhaps this girl was sick or has medical issues. In which case they should have been made aware to the school by the girls parents.

I completely agree. It is easy to throw teachers and people of authority under the bus. Sometimes they do deserve it, but today I doubt that the populace actually cares for the truth. Despite popular opinion on this forum, on this one I would side with the teacher. Edited June 12, 2022 by Pouatchee
