Thaksin compares marijuana to opium, says education is needed and proper science

Thais should be educated not to smoke while already drunk, that can get some very sick as it amplifies the alcohol effect.

And don't keep fertilizing the plant after it blooms or the smoke will give a headache. Don't use pesticides.

Use common sense. Education completed.

Thank you. Yes it did clear the air for me.

I have nothing like that to claim as I have never used illegal drugs and at 78 they hold no interest for me at all.

There are quite a few posters on here who claim so many things bur in reality they know little or nothing of the subject.

The newly coined wood man (aspirations of being a porn star?) is both right and wrong.

1. He is very right about Cha Cha decimating the economy here. The nature of the highly selective economic shutdowns, which favored his cronies was dreadfully destructive. Millions of jobs were lost. Tourism was nearly destroyed due to massive cowardice.

2. Thaksin is obviously speaking of something he knows nothing about, when wading into the ganga discussion. He could not possibly be more wrong, on all counts. Any comparison to opium, which unlike ganga is physiologically addicting, is a fools errand and can only come from a person possessing a spectacular degree of ignorance and preconceived notions.

Your a bit uninformed, but that is normal on this forum of alcohol lovers. How about we let science tell us instead of your....

As a self confessed Author would you not first do some research ?

But yes it should be discouraged and given this graph alcohol should be discoraged even more.

Yes! According to you, everyone is a little bit uninformed. The plain truth is that alcohol might or not might, be more dangerous than marijuana.

We simply do not know that, as alcohol have been researched much longer and much more. It might simply be, that we still not know all the effects of cannabis and marijuana. Or maybe, you are the oracle that can dismiss that too.

If you wish to promote cannabis, just say so instead.

Tony you need to educate yourself, Opium is physically addictive, Heroin is manufactured from Opium and physically addictive. Weed is NOT physically addictive.

A post containing content that was copy and pasted from some site without providing a valid link to the source of information has been removed.

Please use discretion in your references to the government. Phrases which can be considered as anti-coup will be removed. Referring to Thailand or the government as a dictatorship, military dictatorship or other such terms will be removed.

'We' ?  you mean ' You simply do not no that'  while the rest of us are pretty sure alcohol has many adverse effects including physical addiction and heaps of body/brain damage.

He spoke of how he took a cheaply available ganja product in a capsule

When did this happen, where and when did he take a ganja product.

If it was in Thailand then the ganja was not legal back then, so he must have taken illegal drugs.

In order to justify his war on drugs, he should take himself outside and shoot himself.

In fact, drugs or no drugs, he should still take himself outside and shoot himself, do the Thais a favour.

Also, who was making ganja products that were taken in capsules back then?

Surely, the Square Headed one cannot be telling porkies?

Go easy on him, his brain was pickled by alcohol so long ago that he has trouble understanding research and the facts that it brings.

It's much easier to down another shot of Lao Khao for breakfast than to have to think about 'things'.

Other posters have tried to help this chap by showing him research but it's all a bit much for him, some of the words in the research have more than 2 syllables.

The most despicable self serving t**t that has ever held power in Thailand - and that is saying a lot.

It's equal to opium?  No it isn't!!  Saw someone overdose and want to jump off a building who'd smoked a spliff?  Must be a world's first.  But he witnessed it with his own eyes so must be true.

How many did he kill for marijuana during his war on drugs?

Asean Now should be absolutely condemned for publishing this nonsense and giving this convicted criminal media exposure.  Shame on them.  If anyone is too dumb to see what his agenda is then shame on them too.

And....Tony Woodsome????

Such vitriol over a few comments from Dr T on what can only be described as a minor side issue when it comes to the affairs of state. Me thinks you’re one of the unenlightened coup supporting neophytes who are always ever so quick to see the twig in Dr T’s eye but are never quite able to bring yourself to see the log in Prayuth and company’s eye.

He is not banned from Thailand. He can come back whenever he pleases. He hasn’t returned as he, quite correctly, has no desire to face a corrupted Thai legal system. Sweet, lovable and honest has nothing to do with the predicament he finds himself in - he is in exile as the anti democratic forces of Thailand know that any election the has any semblance of fairness will result yet another absolutely crushing landslide victory to Thaksin which would inevitably lead to a significant loss of income to all of those on the pro-coup side.

MJ is the first subject where Prayut has beaten Thaksin.

And if Thaksin wants to go against it, he'll see his popularity falling big time.

Even little old grannies in the village want MJ leaves to put in their soup and stews.

And you are one of those people who is so fanatical that you equate disliking Tony with liking Prayut.  How and why do you draw that conclusion when I never mentioned Prayut?  It's a very childish argument to make.  I am no fan of his either by the way.

I merely stated that Tony is one of the most self-serving despicable "leaders" that this country has ever had, and when he spouts lies to promote himself or stir the pot - as he is doing here - then his nonsense should not be given mainstream media space.  Ignore him, don't give him a platform to lie, and he remains irrelevant.

Should he have something valid to say that truly has the people at heart then go for it.  But equating marijuana (non addictive) to heroin is a ridiculous stretch, saying he saw a man jump off a building because he smoked a spliff is beyond belief.  But his fanboys will support him no matter what.  I am sure you supported his blatant corruption, his moral failings, his murderous "war on drugs".......or maybe your blinkers help you overlook it because he won elections.  Up to you, but don't tell me I am an "unenlightened coup supporting neophyte" when I have never discussed the coup or anything to do with it.

This thread is not a place for you to spout about your political beliefs.

If you feel the need to protect corrupt politicians, make you own thread.

To quote you in this thread:

It appears you believe this thread is not a place for me to spout about politics but instead a haven for hypocrites.

Please leave the moderating to the educated.

The story is about Thaksin trying to mess with Thai politics.

It is not about politics, it is about one man sticking his nose in where it does not belong.

You are the one who is trying to hi-jack the thread and turn it into a thread about your hero.

Take your rubbish elsewhere, it is not wanted on here.

B.T.W., educated is being able to make your own mind up, not what your Thai G/F tells you that you should believe. ????

I have been doing that in this thread from the start.

Has little to do with any lucid content or perspective as to any sound punditry or ignorance coming from Shinawatra quarters - but has everything to do with the continued attention and spotlight, which he has enjoyed greatly in the last couple of years......within particular venues and platforms that are firmly in place and expanding.

It's all about Tony. Little else.

On the subject of drugs if I search Google 'Luke Cook sentenced to death' I find quite an offence post here from Webfact with the  a story headed 'Amazing fall from grace for Pattaya Big Shot Luke',  This was followed by the usual comments from punters of the 'serves him right' variety.   It is clear that this story was cobbled together from reports in the trained media. But putting the knife in Webfact added such things as: 'Thaivisa sources close to Cook said that his wife Kanyarat Wechapitak, 40, was a "controlling and unpleasant person".

He further stated:

"An insider source who knew Cook well and asked not to be named told Thaivisa that Kanyarat was an unpleasant and controlling wife who kept her hands on business matters.

She was described to Thaivisa as an attention seeker who would hog the karaoke microphone at the couple's bar and who aspired to a hi-so life."

In view of the fact that Luke Cook was acquitted at the Supreme Court and no other charges were pursued  against him the comments from an 'insider source' are highly libellous. In fact they were libellous at the time but of course the three defendants were in jail having been sentenced to death so Webfact might have felt very safe.  You can guess what my advice might be now..
