He was interviewed on BBC's Today program this morning saying the by-elections were bad for the Tories ,but as most political pundits said, that is the way of by-elections for a siting government ,but that West country result was not good for the government .

He said that he is still doing a good job ???and he will not go. saying what the government have done etc,ect.

But if the 1922 committee can not change the rules he could be they for another year ,but as history shows Thatcher,Major,and May ,all survived a vote of no confidence ,and all fell on  their swords after 6 months.

He could save the day by reducing taxes, especially vat or the tax rate ,but with the national  debt after Covid, and a prediction that the UK will have the slowest growth rate of any G7 countries next year ,with interest rates going up and inflation, can he afford to,he is almost caught between a rock and a hard place .

And if he did go would move in to No 10 and do the job.

If the voters of Tiverton and Honiton, one of the safest Tory seats in the country, can reject the party under Johnson with such vehemence, what will their future in much more marginal seats be?

And who to replace him in these catastrophic times with inflation and the crippling effects of Brexit rendering the UK the sick man of Europe?

The Cabinet possesses only weasels, toeing the hard-line anti EU rhetoric nonsense demanded by Johnson's backers.

The Conservative heartland despise Johnson and the northern working class of the Red Wall are realising the Tories take care of the CEOs pay packets much more than the working class' struggle against the cost of living increases

Tell that to the voters of Blue Wall Tiverton &  Honiton  and the Red Wall voters of Wakefield. Has it not yet sunk in what happened in those elections? Or do you believe that these 2 constituencies are populated by "metro centric liberals"?

You think Tiverton and Haniton is not the epitome of conservative heartland, an area that voted tory for the best part of a century. 
 

 

Oh and by the way, Wakefield is in the North…fairly working class area as well.

As to “plotting”, it is normal for political parties to develop their own strategies to win power.
