Popular Post webfact Posted June 28, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 28, 2022 Picture: Thai Rath The provincial chief of the Nakhon Sri Thammarat police in southern Thailand has called for an investigation into activities at the Thung Song police station. Claims were made online and on Thai TV that a former chief of the station and now a bigwig in the local force was benefitting from the sale of cars that were being stored for evidentiary purposes after things like crime and accidents. Pol Maj-Gen Somchai Seutortrakoon responded to the potentially damaging allegations following an incident at the weekend where a clip was filmed. Thai Rath also reported that the Office of the National Anti Corruption Commission had got involved in a case last July at Thung Song station over the selling of evidence. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-06-28 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. If he is the Chief why is he not cinductiong the investigation rather than calling/asking for it? 2

Aussieroaming Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 I can guarrantee that if there is an RTP officer that is honest and hardworking then he or she would be the loneliest person in Thailand. I mean this country isn't alone in having a corrupt police force but few other narionalities blagg on about how moral and above reproach they are at the same time. 1

Tropicalevo Posted June 28, 2022 Posted June 28, 2022 The press are going full steam ahead on the 'feel good' stories showing how good Prayut is. Must be an election coming up? 2
Popular Post spidermike007 Posted June 28, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 28, 2022 Thai Rath also reported that the Office of the National Anti Corruption Commission had got involved in a case last July at Thung Song station over the selling of evidence. Hah! That is a bit like saying Trump is investigating Giuliani for lying. Or Prayuth is investigating Anutin for incompetence. The Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand (ACT) is one of the most feeble and ineffective of all the tools Prayuth has used to deceive the people into believing that he is fighting corruption. Who was the last high level authority, in immigration, the army, or the active administration they arrested, charged, tried, convicted, and sent to prison? Nobody. Zero. Nunca. Nada. Why? Because Prayuth has had a mandate from the beginning to do the very opposite. To protect the elite, the super wealthy who are guilty, those that are connected, and those who are in power. Just think Dark Tao. Just think Red Bull. The list goes on, and on, and on. Only the most naive amongst us believe he or ACT secretary-general Mana Nimitmongkol are sincere about this so called fight. 2 1

I don't know why anybody is still complaining about police corruption as if it's new. Corruption is "baked-into" the salary structure of the police as none of them would be able to survive without some sort of graft to supplement the income. Good work is rewarded by assignment to better graft sources, etc. It isn't as if most police world agencies don't have some sort of extra-judicial policies for members of the police, whether it's being able to speed & park anywhere they want, to free meals at restaurants, to keeping the beer they confiscate from underage drinkers. There's always going to be some level of "corrupt" practices that is overlooked. 1

Will research more, but apparently even the most courageous have skeletons in their closets. Not allowed to post the link here due to draconian forum rules, but if you google "Paween Pongsirin koh tao murders" and click the first link you can read an article from 2014 in our most neutral and brilliant English language news organization here in Thailand. (Of course who REALLY knows what happened on Koh Tao. I suppose there is some chance the Burmese guys actually did it...) *sigh*
n8sail Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 Alright, so @whaleboneman is definitely not the only one who knows about my once 'hero' Khun Paween Pongsirin's history. Those were some pretty convincing crocodile tears in the Al Jazeera piece!
