People living in northern Vietnam's mountainous regions have been warned to prepare for possible evacuations amid erosion and flooding risks as tropical storm Chaba approaches.

Its maximum wind speed was 117 kph.

In the next 24 hours, the storm is forecast to move northwest at 15 kph and may get stronger over time. At around 1 p.m. Saturday, it would be around 270 km to the east of Quang Ninh, with a maximum wind speed of 133 kph.
