most of these are little more than police states or run by armies or religious fanatics.

And Thailand isn't ? Maybe not quite a police state but run by the Army/religious fanatics well are you sure about that 'coz last time I checked the Army run Thailand and those drinking bans on 'religious' days with a government funded 'religion' Aka CULT tell me differently.

Bite you tongue when criticising the Liberal use of ganja in this forum or you'll invoke the wrath  of some of the members here who are staunch supporters of this country being over run with pot heads tourism.. (yeah, you know who you're)...

For clarification could you please tell us your definition of a "pothead"  Presumably, anybody that has ever used cannabis ? Would that include mature responsible users as well as medicinal users?  Once we have cleared that up we can then explore the definition of "Pisshead" to see if it includes you. but of course it won't will it.   Especially in a couple of weeks time when you will be forbidden by law to purchase your drug of choice for a day or two!!  How ironic   hope you have stocked up

May I suggest a half glass straight lemon juice, that should loosen up your tongue enough to cure 'speechlessnes'

Guess you don't know me at all, a lot of my quotes are in jest, tongue in cheek, and well, I wasn't replying to you.

Peace

If it was really a lounge in cheek then maybe I should retract my remarks. But I still think that considering the level of ignorance and what almost boils down to bigotry regarding the matter in question the use of such clichés is not very helpful

Inhale deeper. Then you can see the third out of the corner of your eye.

@Denim in actual there's no long weekends this month, cuz a long weekend in theory would actually mean the monday off.  the TWO holidays this month are at the end of the week not at the start.

Does anyone else remember the infamous passport stamp Malaysia would use that would cause Singapore to deny entry?

Even though it seems they no longer use it, Occidental guys with long hair can get a hard time from Malaysian authorities for no other reason.  I met one US guy who immigration wouldn't let on a flight to mainland Malaysia from the eastern part, the woman at the desk citing all sorts of problems with his passport (one must go through immigration when flying between the two parts of Malaysia, go figure).  He simply got on a different line and another agent sent him right through like the rest of the travelers (maybe the woman was jealous of his hair ???? ).  Occasionally things from a forgotten era crop up in newspapers like hippies carrying venereal disease, being drug addicts, seducing their daughters, oh, and being communists -- every so often there will be articles about the red menace that you would think were written in 1967 (maybe they were!).

A little off-topic but pertinent to liberal attitudes: regardless of the Malaysian gov't's Islamic anti-gay stance, there are a lot of people who appear to be openly gay, especially in the population centers like KL and Penang.  I haven't been there in some years, but it looked like Penang was becoming Malaysia's San Francisco; this seemed to start when the city got World Heritage status.

As a anti-prohibition former LEO.

I can hardly believe this is happening.

It's wonderful news, and once those dollar-driven Singaporeans smell the reefer riches, they'll have a sudden change of heart. Just like they did with Casinos! Lulz!

When they do legalise, expect ridiculous rules banning many from enjoying, anyway.

I remember when they actually cut Western mens' hair at Changi Airport into a compulsory short back and sides! What a sad bunch of anally retentive authoritarians.

No wonder, wife swapping parties were so rife when I was there! 5555!

And Thailand isn't?

Let's skim over the corpses of disappeared political opponents found floating in the Mekong with their stomachs full of concrete, the indiscriminate use of CS gas, rubber bullets and chemically doctored water canon spray on protestors, the savage sentencing for allegedly expressing "incorrect" opinions, the cynical trafficking of people, linked with virtual slave labour in some industries, the treatment of ethnic minorities (hill tribes)...

Take a deep drag and it all goes away!

Noble sentiments, but, TIA it's not gonna change in our grand-childrens lifetime's either.

So, I think Roosters point is to be very grateful for small mercies, and with most of my life likely over, I'm thrilled to be able to get high in peace. At last!

Your silliest column this week.....by far.

Or could it by that you wrote it being stoned ????

There's only one column a week. Or maybe you wrote that being drunk ????

I never thought I would live through the day "legalize don't critize" the ganja in Thailand.

It's been a couple of rough years during the pandemic so maybe some clever guy came up with the idea; hey, what about selling drugs instead.

Personally I am in it 100% though my heart goes to economy of the RTP.

No more 50k bribes for a spliff in the islands of the south.

I am positive that they will find out something else very soon to extort unexperienced tourists.

Will the SIN authorities be mounting random urine tests for passengers on return flights from BKK?

Yup, on my next visit I will be more wary of all drivers. More high on drugs or booze or both is

not something I am looking forward to.  i wonder just how many will forget to leave all their weed

before packing up for their homeward trip. It will be funny if many people get delayed for being forgetful.

if this is what it takes for Thailand to have a good high season, well, good luck. i am just hoping to get

a few Roti, and those coconut ball desserts in Hua Hin and Jontien beach when I return for my 45 to 60 days in country.
