Rudy Giuliani, Lindsey Graham subpoenaed by grand jury in Trump election probe

 

The Georgia special grand jury hearing evidence in an investigation into possible 2020 election interference by former President Donald Trump and others has issued subpoenas to Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and key members of Trump's legal team, including Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman, NBC News has confirmed.

The Fulton County special grand jury also subpoenaed lawyers Jenna Ellis, Cleta Mitchell and Kenneth Chesebro, all of whom worked with Trump as he contested the election results.

The subpoenas were first reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and obtained by NBC News.

This tells us the Fulton County investigation is DEAD serious. It would be very surprising at this point if this doesn't lead to an indictment against Donald John Trump.

 

While indicting a former president is unprecedented and the historical significance of this happening can't be discounted, the environment is now ready for it to happen. The house select hearings led mostly by traditional right wing republicans has been BRILLIANT and recent polls show a strong majority of Americans support that Trump should be prosecuted.

 

He's very worried and he should be. 

 

Perhaps it would be better if he fled the country. I like the "America First" irony of that.

While I agree that this GA case is more likely to yield an indictment--very narrow scope, evidence clear, laws violated clear--it's just so painstakingly slow going.  When it comes to an ex-president, justice is clearly not swift.  And if Trump were to announce his run for the presidency, not sure if that would put a wrench into things.  Anyways, they need to get this thing moving towards closure and right soon.

Well running for president doesn't change anything legally but it does change the optics. He probably will announce concurrent to indictments  I expect he will use his rallies as a bully pulpit to incite violence towards any prosecutors. That's how he rolls. He can't be brought to justice soon enough.

Not unless they discover some incriminating evidence such as, hmmm, a phone call from Trump trying to coerce Raffensperger to change the election result without any legal basis.
Could such a call exist ? Would Orangutan man be so stupid as to be recorded saying “I only need 11,000 votes. Fellas, I need 11,000 votes. Give me a break.”  ?
Cos if they did find such self incriminating evidence, that could result in the violation of at least three Georgia statutes. Two of which are felonies and one a misdemeanor. Possibly he also violated Federal statutes as well.

Someday this series of kangaroo courts has to wind things up. The allowance of hearsay testimony is sad to no end. There is a faction that just hates the arrogance of Donald Trump, and they just keep up the stabbing at him with charges that are never backed up with facts. The Russia connection they accused him of ended up being with Obama/Hillary and really backfired. All of the impeachment proceedings failed to return a conviction simply because they found no proof of wrongdoing except for the opposing party. Looking back, I would much preferred DJT to the catastrophe we are in now. My retirement savings, which are invested mainly in core domestic industries, have lost over 45% of their value since February 2021. During the four years that DJT was leader of the USA my investments had appreciated 38%. I am no admirer of DJT personally, but he was a much better leader than Biden or Obama.

BTW, judging by China's reaction to the Quad 4, Biden's commitments to defend Taiwan, his improving relations with Japan and South Korea, etc, I don't think they love Joe.
