Naew Na Thai Caption: Two time provincial councillor dead - vehicle pulled out on him in Muang Nan

Phu Wiang police in Muang district of the northern Thai city of Nan were called to a collision between two pick-ups outside the Wiang Kaew Hotel in Fai Kaew sub-district.

Police said an Isuzu had suddenly pulled out in the path of a Mitsubishi.

Both vehicles were so badly damaged that they were immovable.

Inside the Mitsubishi was two time provincial councillor Rewat Phromaree, aged 71, who had to be cut out but who died at the scene.

The driver of the Isuzu was Rong Korwong, 55, former phu yai ban (a village official) of Ban Nam Sai who was taken to hospital.

Pictures published by Naew Na showed heavy rain in the aftermath of the accident.

Long before CCTV, there were conclusive accident investigations based on tire marks, traffic signs/lights, speed calculation, witnesses, right-of-way rules and so many other factors.

Oh, by the way, it was a joke....

Another day another statistic... but no change.
