Re-Entry Permit On Departure From Suvarnabhumi?

Is it still easy to get a quick re-entry permit for 1,000 Baht on departure from Suvarnabhumi Airport?

 

And, if so, does it still take only about 15 minutes to process?

 

Also, is the counter still in the same place on the left side of the immigration counters at the immigration counters area on the Departures East side of immigration counters?

Yes to all.

The area you are referring to is Zone 2.

No issues.

Should you go through the other zone, then they'll direct you through the immigration counter, complete your visa procedures, and ask you to walk up to the zone 2 in the departure zone, and enter from the exit. I've done it. They've seen it all before.

What about those photocopying of passport pages etc? Is that available there?

OP, Don't do that. 

 

OP permit office is prior to passport control.

Obtain your permit the same as everyone else does.

My experience at Chiang Mai immigration is there is quite a lot of photocopying involved and waiting time is long.

 

But I've never done it at the airport itself.

Very minimal paperwork.

TM8 with photo.

Current extension stamp. 

etc.

BKK provide a "service option" for 200baht and they take care of all.

Yes 24 hours. If early morning etc and office unattended (rare) just ask one of the immigration staff and they will sort it. 

 

Regarding DMK note that the office for reentry permit is just other side of passport control.

When dealing with io you can see office just behind him/her.

Same office.

All it means is the io prepares the tm8 provides photo and the necessary photocopies.

There is no receipt for the 200baht it's just a tip for their assistance.

Personally never used it.

I like to have it all prepared prior to going to airport.

Travelled thru 6 weeks back. Was travelling business class so went thru passport control and then they showed me where to go for re-entry permit ...

2 stage process ...get the permit and then nearby you pay ... I paid 1200 but only got a receipt for 1000 !! She then allowed me to go back 'air side' ...

Super simple ..no documation/photo required not like the ridiculous requirements set out by my local immigration office.

The 200 extra you paid is the "service fee" ...

If you had provided the paperwork yourself you would be charged 1000baht.

BTW I wouldn't recommend going through passport control then back to office etc. Even for special business class folk.

In the past I have done both, brought the prefilled out form and photo myself and only paid the 1,000 Baht and on other occasions paid the 1,200 Baht and had them do it all for me. With the 1,200 Baht method I just handed them my passport and they took a digital photo and prepared the form electronically for me. It seemed to go faster the 1,200 Baht way. Either way works though.
