The same egg thief who drove an antique pickup truck and stole dozens of eggs from two egg merchants in Banglamung has struck yet again, using new tricks to deceive his victims.

The first victim, Wichitra Saengkla, 31, spoke with The Pattaya News reporters on Thursday, July 21st, about a male egg thief who stole eggs from her shop at the Khao Mai Kaew subdistrict.

According to Wichitra, a male suspect driving an antique pickup truck stopped by her shop earlier this month, to order 10 packs of eggs and put them in his car. This time, however, the suspect claimed that he needed to use the eggs to cook food for students at Ban Rong Heep School and asked to pay later because he did not have any cash on him.

Wichitra said that she sympathized with the suspect and let him take the eggs because she knew the school well. However, the suspect took all the eggs and never returned and never contacted the school or was associated with them.

Think this guy is very clever.  He's not a thief by the letter of the law. They simply let him take them away.

Did you read to the end of the linked article?

Without Chonthicha even giving her consent yet, the suspect darted for his car and sped away.

Thief, fraud, con whatever. I don't find him clever at all.

So, technically, he is not a thief, but a debtor in default, who the merchant failed to get details, e.g. his name, from.

Very popular excuse in Thailand.

Best to never except that deal. They'll be return customers with no cash more times than naught.

What are you trying to say? That 'Buy now pay later' does not exist outside of Thailand? Its part  of most major economies- its how credit cards work and how people buy cars and property and expensive  items.

The guy didn't use a credit card.

He said he'd pay later.

... And didn't.

Not without cash or credit.

You don't just buy stuff with the promise to pay later or you'll end up "Sri Lanka" .

Old saying wherever i am......cash or beat it!

Many years ago my wife ran a small shop and noodle place across from a Thai christian village. As the OP did, she gave credit to a few people who never paid their bill. After that the place ran for a while with less and less customers because of her NO MORE credit rule until she closed it.

She later rented it twice to other people and strongly advised them not to give credit. Of course they ignored her and went bust. The last one didn't even pay the electricity bill, which my wife took from the deposit before returning the balance.

If you want to eat, have the money. The banks lend money but don't sell food.

I used to have sympathy once upon a time, but the few bad apples spoil it for the majority.
