Buying a new Android (e.g. Samsung) online or via non-company store - Warranty valid? Procedure if repair needed?

Featured Replies

Anotherwords, purchased not from a Samsung store but an online seller or a non-manufacturer b&m store.

Warranty valid?

ALSO - What is the procedure?

If under warranty, can I bring it to a Thailand mall Samsung store?

Ever told "That phone was not intended to be sold in Thailand.

You need to do repairs thru (e.g.) Korea cs"?

Or does owner have to ship it at his expense, possibly out of the country, even  if phone was sold officially in Thailand?

Other issues?

"Grey" market devices of any nature are always a big risk.  Devices are imported into individual countries by distribution companies with exclusive rights to market the devices.  It is also their responsibility to maintain warranty and service centers.  They are definitely not inclined to fix any device illegally imported so indeed a risk to buy from a seller pushing grey market goods.

The official Samsung store on Lazada seems to have pretty competitive prices.

Is the risk of no warranty service worth the initial savings?

Warranty on phones is usually useless anyway, as they will always tell you to ship the phone + blame water damage or say it is not within warranty. For this you usually have to pay some type of insurance, to do cover it.

Can I bring it to a mall Samsung store and they deal with it from there?
