Patcharapong, 39, a bridal shop owner, went to a concert in Bang Pakong, Chachoengsao, central eastern Thailand.

On the way home he was accosted by a man who asked him for a lift as his house was in the same area, or so he said.

On the way back the pair got on so well that Patcharapong invited him into his house for a beer.

But very soon Patcharapong felt very tired and went to bed.

He didn't wake up until the next evening.

By that time the hitchhiker had gone and so had an iPad, designer bag, phone, perfume and other goods worth 200,000 baht.

In addition the hitchhiker left something - he was caught on CCTV urinating in the middle of the floor.

The victim believes he was drugged and reported the incident to the Bang Kaew police.

Deputy at the station Pol Lt-Col Rangsan Khamsuk said that pink sediment in a wine glass that the thief had filled with beer and given to the victim was being analysed as well as toxicology tests on the victim himself.

Though the thief is unknown his wider circle of associates are known and he is believed to be responsible for similar thefts in other places.

Pol Col Rangsan told Siam Rath that he would soon be in custody "nae norn" - for sure.

Taking random strangers off the road for sex in your home is probably not a good idea.

Short time rooms are much safer.

Perhaps he did but the victim's too ashamed to talk about it.
