The poster was referring to sex change surgery not treatment:

 

Current NHS guidance means gender reassignment surgery is not possible until someone is 18 and has been on cross-sex hormones for at least a year, or six months for chest reduction surgery among trans men.

I Keep reading about changing sex and being non binery and there are over goodness knows how many different sexes ,well sorry but i am an old boomer that grew up in a time when we had far more problems and nobody i ever met wanted to change,especially kids ,although must admit my daughter loved boys toys .

 i really do not care if anyone is gay ,up to them ,just dont shout it out and wave flags ,its no big deal .

as for a man becoming a woman or a woman becoming a man ,you might want to do it .

but at the end of the day if your not born with a womb and cant have babies ,your a man ,and you will die a man .

It always suprises me that so many of these men who want to become women ,dont have their penis removed ,wonder why?

That is refering to hormone treatment NOT a sex change. As already stated, you cannot get a sex change in the UK until you are at least 18 years old.

If you don't know the facts, perhaps educate yourself before posting.

It's not 'nature'; it's an ill-informed, anecdotal rant from someone with obvioulsy very little knowledge or idea about the subject.

'nobody i ever met wanted to change,especially kids' - so because you personally didn't meet them, you don't think the issue existed in 'your' boomer time? Did you meet many gay people? Did you meet many transvestites? Did you meet anyone who liked dressing up in leather and getting dominated? I'm guessing you probably didn't but I'm gauranteeing you these things existed and have always existed throughout mans history. Just because you personally didn't see it in your closeted existance doesn't mean it wasn't there but because it was all 'hush, hush' or swept under the carpet (the norm no doubt in your era), there was more unhappy people denying who they really were, leading to extreme unhappiness, a life of secrecy, depression and often suicide.

People should not be forced to live their lives to the old-fashioned standards of the boomer generation; they were made that way by nature after all.

I reckon there's exaggerations, mistruths and agenda on the extremities of any argument.

 

Anyway I haven't had to use any special pronouns so far or be castigated for not using them. Nor do I know what non-binary is, nor do I care, and I hope I don't have to look it up.

 

I have noticed the LBGTQIA acronym of course and that does make me wonder. Like L and G could be just G, B if it stands for bisexual is unnecessary; a bisexual person could only be discriminated against for their same sex practices surely. T fine no problem there, Q is it queer really cant understand that one, I intersex yeah fair enough, A not sure, any more? That leaves GTI doesn't have quite the same ring.

 

I'm too old to worry about what the younger generation is up to, their victories and their mistakes, it'll all happen anyway.

How would the volunteers know if they were transvestites?  Granted that trannies in the USA are mostly butt-ugly and the size of well-built rugby players, but then so are most of the women......
