Re Entry Permit: Travelling to Laos.

Featured Replies

I'm flying to Udon Thani tomorrow from Don Muang, then busing it to Friendship Bridge (Nong Kai) to cross into Laos for a few days in Vientiane.

I need to get a re entry permit ...

Can I get it tomorrow at Don Muang airport  and use it later at the border...or do I need to get it at the actual border's Thai Immigration office ( Thai/Laos crossing point)  ?

You can only get a re-entry permit when leaving the country at Don Muang.

You should be able to get a re-entry permit at the bridge in Nong Khai. They had  a re-entry permit desk there before and I assume it is still open.

A re-entry permit is valid to use for entry up to the day the permit to stay it is issued for ends.

Was open on July 17 and they pushed me to this office until I convinced them that I DON'T want a re-entry permit

That'll make the trip there more relaxing.

Enjoy your trip!

I miss those little weekend trips to Laos for a change of scenery.

I'm hoping the new bridge in Bueng Kan is open sooner than later.

hijacking thread:

is it possible to bus to Vietnam along this route then? (since the Nong Khai bridge is open...)

My understanding is that this route is no problem now, and you can use an e-visa for entry to Vietnam.

interesting... thanks so much!

Maybe better to open a new thread about that.
