Siam Rath published a story that was certainly not taking the "P" - they were deadly serious about the lottery.

Snakecatchers in Suphanburi, central Thailand, got a call from a man called Sirawat, deputy mayor of Huay Wang Thong in Muang district, that a phython had got in and started eating pigeons in the municipal offices roof.

It took 30 minutes before the 3.35 meter long pigeon fancier was in custody. He wasn't coming without a fight, however.

One brave lady staffer advanced and gave the python a tickle declaring it lovely and soft.

The deputy mayor didn't dare but reckoned lots of pigeons had been consumed.

The numbers of the length of the snake - 335 - were deemed to be the answer to the next lottery draw, on Tuesday 16th August.

Looks like a Reticulated Python . I have my Snakes of Thailand book handy as my cat brought in a snake about 30 mins. ago.  This one a bit smaller , about 3" it is a Flower Pot snake.

The lady staffer gave a tickle and said it was lovely and soft . No commenet about the common Trouser Snake.

A three inch long snake must be new-born.

Good job Mr or Mrs python. These harmless snakes (well as long as you aren't a much loved small child, small dog, or cat that is) do a great natural clean-up service for all sorts of vermin.

I'm not sure about pythons, but in Oz black snakes predate on the much, much deadlier brown and taipan snakes.
