retirement visa confusion

Featured Replies

Sorry, this is probably a repetitive question but the more I searched and read the less clear it became.

Canadian, 60yrs (in 6 days)

On extension of visa exempt  expires Oct 10/22

putting 1m in Thai bank next week (regardless of visa)

I DONT want 3m baht insurance coverage, Im comfortable with less and no out patient

Can I get the "long O visa" in country, neighbouring country, or is it back to Canada.

thanks very much

Don't know what you mean by "long O visa"

You can obtain a single entry non O retirement in Thailand that gives a 90 day permit.

I the last 30 days you can obtain 12 month extension.

Has financial requirements.

No insurance required for the non O or the extension.

Go to your local Immigration Office and apply for a 90 Day Non-O Retirement Extension, then towards the end of this period apply for a 1 year Retirement Extension of Stay.

No need to go anywhere unless you wish to.

Sorry "Long O" was just the terminology on one of the sites.

1m as in my post, so financial requirements easy to meet.

For non O retirement application you only require the 800k+ in Thai Bank account in your name only on day of application.

What is also required is to show those funds came from abroad

The following thread includes useful info provided by ubonjoe as to how you go about obtaining a non-O conversion at your local immigration office initially:-
