Daily News Thai Caption: Dead body tossed into the river

Police in Trang in southern Thailand are hunting a husband after the badly battered and bruised body of a woman washed up near a bank in the Trang River.

Pol Lt-Col Panthiwat Petchlor of the Huay Yort constabulary revealed that the body was found in Na Wong sub-district, reported Daily News.

He rushed to the scene and found a large group of locals gawking at the corpse.

In a tributary about 100 meters from a bridge was the body of a woman aged about 30-40 in a black shirt that was inside out and long black pants with a brown pattern. She was wearing no underwear.

Decomposition had yet to set in. She had been hit with a heavy object and had a severe facial injury caused by a sharp object. She also had ten other injuries and bruises to her legs and hands and other parts of her body.

She'd been dead less than 12 hours and there was no ID.

A fisherman and construction worker found the body.

Police believe the victim works using her hands and was attacked while not wearing her clothes and was then dressed by her assailant and thrown in the river.

Inquiries are being made at construction camps and CCTV is being studied.

There had been no report of a missing person but they were working on the theory that the victim was known to the assailant.

Later in the day 5-6 people told police that the lady is Pornthip Kamnert, 28, from Muang Trang.

They told police that her husband who they know only as Jay abducted her from a funeral and the pair went missing.

Police are following up that lead and now looking for Jay.
