Popular Post webfact Posted September 6, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 6, 2022 File photo By Online Reporter Officials in Prachuap Khiri Khan have set an ambitious goal of reducing the number of road fatalities by approximately two thirds over the next five years. The goal was announced by Mr. Sathien Charoenruen, governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan during a meeting of the Road Safety Administration Center on Monday (Sept 5). The goal is to reduce the rate of the deaths as a result of road traffic accidents to 12 per 100,000 population by the end of 2027, Governor Sathien told the meeting. In order to achieve the goal it would mean that the province would suffer approximately 41 deaths from traffic accidents in a year. Popular Post anchadian Posted September 6, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 6, 2022 Never mind in the next few years, if the police did their job, this could be achieved in the next few weeks. Will never happen. 8 1 1
Popular Post Dmaxdan Posted September 6, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 6, 2022 What are they going to do? Literally ban everyone from using the roads? 3
Popular Post connda Posted September 6, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 6, 2022 I see we start the day with a excerpt from Comedy Central this morning. Hot air. The BIB's only tool are road-blocks. None of the carnage ends until cops in cars pull over violators of moving violations and hit them with fines and sanctions that are painful enough to change Thai's suicidal driving habits. And - completely revamp their driver education, skill/knowledge testing and licensing. So why do I know this will never change? Because the BIB drive just like average Thais. The carnage never ends until the system makes drastic changes. And? TIT - they never will. 2 1 1
steveyinasia Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 all Iread was blah blah blah...5 years...blah blah blah. If you were serious about this issue, you would get to it right away. 1
thailand49 Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 I'm interested in how actually? Instead of flopping of his lips like Chan O who claim he could fix the traffic in 30 days. Outline plus? 1
Nicholas Paul KNIGHT Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 Education, education, Public Service announcements, on how to drive when to use indicators, using the inside lane etc, only longstanding input by the Govt will start the change. But then having second thoughts that would mean the Public might know the LAW, and the RTP will never allow that !! 1
RichardColeman Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 I'll file this story with Thai Space Program 1

Will never happen. Well said my friend. If they would start enforcing the laws there are then it would not be such a hard thing to do. This past week while at the house in southern Hua Hin, I watched in horror as an old man driving a beater of a truck moved across 2 lanes of Hwy 4 at about 5kph as traffic was whizzing past him as he tried to get to the u-turn ahead. No signals or anything and as I stopped behind him in the slow lane I watched as a police car drove by him and almost hit his vehicle as he scooted into the u-turn lane. I thought the police car would u-turn ahead and head back to check the man out but nope, After making the u-turn the man still driving 5kph drove straight across the 2 opposite lanes and up a dirt road.....amazing he is not dead the way he drives.....

Brian Hull Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 Then he had better get the traffic cops off their asses and on to the roads to actually do something about controlling the kamikaze bike riders. 1

As you cross by road over a border into the province you will be stopped by the local BiB and asked to take a lucky dip ticket as to whether you can continue with your vehicle or not. Only 33% chance of success. If you pull a fail ticket it's get out/off and walk. Using the tried and trusted TAT formula the accident rate will be found to be reduced by 66%.

Boyn Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 I heard the Government were also going to expect Thai drivers to stop at red lights on crossings as well but not sure if that is achievable or maybe that is fake news. 1

RobU Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 1. Increase the amount fined for traffic violations to reflect the true wealth of vehicle owners 2. Actually stop and arrest the perpetrators 3. Collect the fines. (the money collected could be used to fund overtime or bonuses for police) 4. Confiscate vehicles (including motorbikes) of drivers that drive dangerously or carelessly and crush them (the vehicles not the drivers.......on the other hand????) 5. Give lorry and bus drivers Tachographs so they cannot drive for longer than a specific amount of time per 24 hour period 6. Fine drivers and employers a hefty amount for going over that time I guarantee the roads (and footpaths) will be safer within 6 months Yawn... but that's wishful thinking, nothing's gonna change????

By telling the RTB that wearing a helmet is actually a law that must be enforced?
