Trump Vows to Slash Drug Prices with New Executive Order
An executive order cannot compel a business to sell its product at a lower price. That's the issue. The US federal government can say it will only purchase at a certain price, but the suppliers cannot be forced to sell by this order. And what everyone misses is that it is the distributors and retailers who increase the cost of the drugs. There is a quasi monopoly in the USA with a small number of mega logistics companies controlling distribution. They also have their own generic brands. They are not being told to reduce their markups. The pharmacies add dispensing fees in addition to their retail mark up. In many cases it is more expensive to obtain a prescription for basic drugs than it is to purchase off the shelf if an OTC. Classic example is the daily dose of aspirin. -

Is it mandatory to have ESL teacher's hours in the contract?
Hi all. Prior to the last 12 months, the ESL teachers at my school always had the monthly hours (20) in the contract. It seems (alongside the school not renewing teachers contracts or replacing them) they have taken anything to do with 'teaching hours per month' out of other teachers contracts. I'm due to get a new contract soon and I'm wondering if it's legal / mandatory for schools in Thailand to put the set amount of working hours per month in foreign teachers contracts? -

Credit card hacked !
Strange about Booking.com - used it last year to book a few days in Patts and received an email at 5 am on the day of arrival stating that the booking was cancelled due to an electrical problem in the room . Went to the place anyway and just checked in as usual , nobody mentioned any problem , so I assume this was a scam , but why ? And what was the point ? -

Tourism Thailand's Tourism Sector Struggles: Chinese Market Plummets
The Thai tourist sector does not grasp that the value proposition is no longer present. There was a time when the low cost of Thailand could offset the many negatives. Not anymore. Most businesses would take a a hard look at what they were doing and make changes. It seems Thailand is still in denial.
