Can anyone recommend a clinic to get a heart stress test in Bkk before i head out to Nepal trekking? I have had blood and urine tests and ekg but i just want to be sure because of my age 73.  Thanks for any advice.

Any big hospital will have the facilities for a stress test, i had mine done at Samitivej hospital in Sukhumvit 49, can't tell you how much it cost as it was a part of a full check up package...

Do you have previous experience in trekking at high altitude?  AMS can become a medical emergency very quickly if ignored, for people of any age.

Trekking in Nepal at 73?

and taking sensible precautions before you go!

Really admire your drive to keep enjoying yourself, hope you have a great trip.

At 72 I spent quite a bit of time at 10,000' & 11,000' and we just take things quietly for the first 2 days but people have different tolerances. Up at 14,000' makes you a bit breathless and I don't think I could have carried even a small back pack but I was only there for the afternoon to spot animals.

Like to see a report when you get back.

Thanks. My mantra is "Slow, slow down, turn around and go down if you are not having fun." Spending a few days acclimatizing to see how it goes. No problems previously but effects are highly variable between individuals regardless of age. I will probably hire a porter for my small 10 kg pack.
