Two army personnel killed, one injured at Thailand’s Army War College

Two army personnel were killed and another seriously injured when a gunman, reported to be a non-commissioned officer, opened fire at his colleagues in an office at the Army War College in Bangkok’s Dusit district this morning (Wednesday).

 

The gunman, whose identity was not disclosed, was apprehended by military police in the compound of the college, while the injured person was rushed to Phramongkutklao hospital.

 

According to the Royal Thai Army (RTA), the shooting took place at about 9.30am, when the gunman opened fire, with an unspecified type of handgun, at staff working in an office.

Sergeant Kills 2 at Army Training Command

BANGKOK (TNA) – Two people were killed in a sergeant major's shooting spree before he surrendered at Army Training Command yesterday morning.


The sergeant major started shooting at colleagues at the Army War College inside the compound of the Army Training Command in Dusit district at about 9.30am. Two people were killed and another person was injured.

 

The sergeant major had had an accident and some symptoms from the accident persisted. He appeared stressed, carried his gun at the shooting scene and announced he planned to kill 10 people. Special operations police were sent to the college to control the situation.

Condolences the to the family of the dead personnel. Hmmm, if the army thought he was stressed after an 'accident' why was the SM not in hospital without firearms?

I would have thought that being able to cope with stress is a vital part of being in the armed forces. Goes with the job if you're called into action. Of course, the Thai army only has to deal with fighting off unarmed fellow citizens with water cannon, so perhaps there's no stress involved in the job in Thailand.

Dont you think there is this newage defence force thing these days most places? "cant yell" or otherwise talk to soldiers as it might upset them...

take care of their "feelings" and their mental health.....

 

nevermind having to go to war... they might get stressed?

"The Thai military said in a statement that Yongyuth Mungkornkim (below) – held the rank of lieutenant colonel – opened fire on three military officers with a 9mm pistol"
