Thai Wife Got a New Thai Passport. Unexpired US Visa is still in her Old Thai Passport.

Featured Replies

I mentioned she should get appt at Chiang Mai Consulate to ask for transfer of unexpired US visa to her new updated Thai passport.

Wife says friends tell her there is no need to transfer a current US visa to her new Thai passport.

They tell her to simply carry both old & new Thai passports when travel to US.

I'm playing Devil's Advocate to avoid an unfortunate surprise at US Immigration entry.

Anybody have experience to offer?

Her friends are correct.

The consulate will not transfer the visa from her old passport to the new one.

She will use both passports when checking in for the flight to the US and when entering the US.

Not Thai visa related. Moved to the visas for other countries forum.
