Pattaya City Council urges mayor to take good care of palm trees after removing them from Pattaya beach

Pattaya — Caring for the tourism image, the Pattaya City Council urged Mayor Poramase Ngampiches to take good care of freshly dug-up palm trees that have recently been removed from the beach and not abandon them to dry out like older ones previously.

Damrongkiat Pinitkan, a Pattaya Council member, questioned Poramase during a meeting today, September 23rd, about the tree planting project, which has been running on the beach since 2021 but had reportedly been hampered by citizen complaints, as many people did not want some trees removed.

In response, the mayor said Pattaya City is in the process of renewing a contract with the project contractor, Nong Nooch Land and Gardenscape company. The contract will be extended from September 2022 to December 2024 or 820 days. In the meantime, the company will remove about 130 palm trees from the beach and re-plant them at Eastern National Sports Training Center.

I guess doing it when the country was shut down with no tourists was too difficult - looks like just another tourist eyesore and obstruction now. Premium holiday location !

We are in the midst of a tree planting project are we? So the one I recall just prior to Covid, was the tree digging up project perhaps.... the summer of no shade?

Trust the pattaya council doofuses to find the right timing to cause delays, havoc and eyesore everywhere they see fit. like the endless road digging. the re-covering of the beach soil, paving of walkways that takes months, and now the trees, i bet my last baht that they will end up in adump somewhere and it will take for ever to replace them, you just wait and see...

One of the best things about walking there was the shade provided by the trees. I haven't been back to Pattaya since the City Hall made it impossible to sit alongside the promenade, and watch the world go by, one of any holiday's essentials. I, like many others of my age, liked to walk for few hundred yards, then sit and rest awhile. Then they wonder why tourists stay away!

Is this contract like the one for re-supplying sand to the disappearing beach twice a year?

The "tree planting project" has them removing trees previously and again now?

Why are they removing the palm trees? surely palm trees are the poster boys for any tropical beach front. what will they be replacing them with as shade is a nice thing to have.

Just walked there yesterday...they are planting those big double trunk palms all along near soi 2, 3, 4 etc....look nice.  Would be better if they had a few of the big old trees that give more shade but i believe somebody decided to cut them all down for some strange reason probably having to do wiith ego, $$, if it ain't broke lets fix it anyway plans.

These palms have probably been sold now....developers like full grown trees.

Sad to see these palms gone. They may be sold but more likely dumped.

Why remove them at all? Any beachfront worldwide would be glad to have them. Again, this is TiT....

JUST plant new ones where they old ones were / are going to be planted.....
