Al Jazeera And Sophon

Featured Replies

Recently the Al Jazeera English has been replaced with the Arabic version on Sophon. I have tried ringing Sophon, but can't get a reply.

Anyone got an idea what is happening and when we can expect to get the English back.

Hi,

I think it is a mistake on Al Jazeera site. They incorrectly identify your location by IP range of Sophon. That's why it make only happen on Sophon, but not on DTACT, for example.

Take a close look at the website and switch to English version manually.

Have you tried a re-scan of channels?  Sometimes they add things, move them around, etc.

If you can access youtube on your TV there is an 'Al Jazeera English Live' channel available, along with a number of other foreign news channels broadcast in english - DW / France 24, etc.

I just went to my Al Jazeera channel on Sophon and it is in English. Channel 807 digital.

You can always subscribe to the Al Jazeera English news channel on YouTube for free, assuming you've got a smart TV. It's exactly the same as what Sophon shows, there's a very short advert when you start watching but that's all. Paid for by the Qatar government.

Thanks for all your replies.

I re tuned my TV multiple times, but no luck on either digital or analogue.

I am now going with YouTube, which works fine.

English is back on analogue.

I just checked again and still have Al Jazeera, English on my Sophon digital at 807! Good pic actually.
