First time in Phnom Penh

Featured Replies

I am considering travelling to Phnom Penh for a few days this winter, mainly for the purpose of exiting Thailand and reentering to get another 45 day visa exemption. I have never been to Cambodia, I don't know what to expect.

Is it safe to walk in the streets? I am very much into walking around and I am interested in Buddhist temples. I don't go out after dark and I'm not interested in nightlife.

How do I get safely from the airport to my hotel and back?

Are there Western-style supermarkets and convenience stores in Phnom Penh? I keep a very restrictive diet for health reasons and I don't eat in restaurants. In Thailand I used to find hard-boiled eggs at 7-11 and cooked meat/fish at supermarkets. Is there anything like that in Phnom Penh?

Thank you.

Don't walk near the road holding a phone or shoulder bag.

Snatchers on m/c, apart from that no problems.

Load Pass app on your phone for taxi/tuktuk.

Lots of 7-11 style stores around, but limited choices of foods.

Hmmmmm... ????

Thank you.

When you exit the airport you will see a transport desk. There are taxis. Otherwise you can walk out to the street to get a tuktuk or of not much luggage a motorbike taxi. There is also a local city bus.

There are some supermarkets same as anywhere in the world. They have western, Thai and Vietnam products.

There is an international airport at Siem Reap.
