Why is the UK struggling more than other countries?

1 , I don't know about the UK poverty rates , but any increase since 2020 (Brexit) would have been primarily due to Covid and Ukraine

2 Food bank usage decreased last year , although the previous increases were caused by the pandemic and lockdown and last years decrease was caused by pandemic restrictions being lifted .

3 Again , I have no idea about UK exports

4 British people can no longer go and live in the E.U and also E.U citizens cannot now go and live in the U.K and this will benefit British kids with things like housing availability and the jobs market in the UK

5 More housing and jobs available in the U.K

6 Both sides gave a biased opinion /prediction of how the UK would be effected by Brexit

  Anymore questions ?

So why is there a housing shortage?

You seem to have misunderstood my post .

What I meant was that there was a decrease in food bank usage last year and that decrease last year was caused by a rise the pervious year which was due to Covid measures and lock-downs .

I also didn't say that food bank usage had only increased since the pandemic , you just imagined that I said that (or misunderstood what I meant)

You claimed that the increase was due to the pandemic even though usage of food banks had been increasing since 2008 every year. The only way that claim of yours makes any sense is if you meant that food bank usage would either have held steady or declined had covid not occurred. So why would the trend have reversed?

I did post the same graph earlier on in this thread and as I previously explained already , I did mean that the sharp rise in the 2020 /21 food bank usage was down to people  using them during the pandemic AND the decline in usage last year was because people weren't using them as much because of the pandemic had ended

Because you'd ask for a link next. Just staying ahead of you.

I did actually ask you if you could give your own opinion and not just send a link , which is six years old an from the USA.

I take it that you cannot explain your own claims

I dont claim it the data claims it. Its just the facts and of course its not the end of the world. Hardly its just a stupid self inflicted wound. But it is a big contrast with the rosy predictions and promises made by the biggest liar of the UK BJ.

These are numbers and facts not opinions, economists have proven it so its not a case of believing in an opinion these are facts backed up by numbers.

Many people predict stuff doesn't necessarily make them a liar.

As I said, your question doesn't even deserve any effort. Many similar links,

If you accuse people of being racist , you could at least explain why you think that , but I shall just put that down to yet another groundless accusation , as they usually are

Your contradicting yourself from an earlier post unless you now claim BJ not having a brain. You responded to my post that had the half a brain quote saying that anyone who had one could see it was not going to be easy. Yet BJ said it was going to be easy and beneficial. So what is it is does BJ only have half a brain or is he a liar.

I go for option two given his proven lies recently.

So, apparently, it's not the words you use that count, but what you meant. I guess I'm going to have to engage the services of a telepathist to get at the meaning of what you write.

No need to go to those extremes , it is just part of normal discussion , if you don't understand what another person says , then you ask and they explain or clarify .

That is how normal people converse  , you may be suffering from playing too much link tennis , when you just posts links to other people and they post links back .

But if somebody is renting out property then that property exists and is therefore not part of any shortage.

Yes i guess the whole property thing is another question, it was always a struggle to buy in UK for many.

Politicians will do or say anything to get elected.

The only politician to try and do what she promised to do was Liz Truss, and she was gone in a few weeks.

The U.K Gov seems to be waging way on small private landlords by increasing taxes and other measures  and many UK landlords are  selling their rental properties and now there's a shortage of rental properties available

There is a limit to lies, BJ like Trump crossed it. But your main point is really valid. They always make things look better then they are. That is why I am happy that in the Netherlands there is a organization that puts all election programs from parties through a program to see how feasible they are (so they cant lie too much its mandatory).

Then again my country has too many parties far from perfect I need to mention that because my country its politics has it good sides but it also has bad sides. Because of the many parties everyone compromises. (that is good and bad)

All councils should have money to build council houses that are not for sale.

Renters should only pay rent in relation to what they earn.

Property should be available at reasonable prices.

That is awfully socialist (part of paying in relation to what they earn) of you. While i totally agree with your last sentence. Just be happy the UK is far better of then the Netherlands we have a far larger problem with property availability.

There shouldn't be lack of affordable accommodation in UK  it's always the dam money thing.

I was fortunate back in my time in UK but it still wasn't easy, for younger people now it just seems impossible unless rich Ma and Pa.
