Five people were killed Saturday night at a gay nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado, according to police. Another 18 people were injured in the mass shooting at Club Q.

Authorities received numerous 911 calls starting at 11:57 p.m. and responded to the scene, said Colorado Springs Police Lt. Pamela Castro.

“They did locate one individual who we believe to be the suspect inside,” said Castro. “At this point in time, the suspect is being treated, but is in custody.”

Turns out the shooter is a grandson of Maga member and election denier

 

The 22-year-old gunman who killed at least five in a gay nightclub in Colorado Springs is the grandson of a California Trump-alligned Republican member of the state assembly, and he had a run-in with police after threatening to blow up his mother's house, the Washington Post reports.

Anderson Lee Aldrich's grandfather is reportedly Randy Voepel, who represents the 71st District in the California state assembly. Advocacy groups called for Randy Voepel's expulsion from the assembly for calling for "Lexington and Concord" in the days prior to the Republican-led January 6th domestic terrorist attack on Congress.

While I’ll definitely be commenting if this murderer’s actions have indeed been motivated by the hatred that is core to MAGA, I don’t think it reasonable to link the political persuasions and actions of the murderer’s grandfather to his crimes without evidence.
