Lets talk bedding

Featured Replies

since we spend such a large % of our lives sleeping...

I have a good mattress if maybe a bit firm...

Should I get a great topper?

What about a memory foam mattress or just a memory foam topper? Is that a thing?

Or should I get one of those adjustable beds that I saw today - was that w/a sealy mattress? Expensive - but worth it?

Many years ago I stayed at a Marriott in Bkk - the bed was like floating on a cloud... I tried to buy one but ran into too many obstacles...

What are you sleeping on?

I don't know the brand but we have a double pillow top mattress was expensive a few years back & is holding it's integrity..... I'd call it semi firm.....I don't think I would like it any firmer....

In our RV in the states we have a memory form mattress that I love - a little less firm than our conventional one here - I love it....

The downside to the memory foam is it absorbs moisture = the moisture settles through the mattress & there is a special base that allows air to dry out any of the wicked up moisture.....Without the base the mattress has to constantly be lifted daily to air out accumulated moisture.....

2¢ - for what it's worth.....

i have an IKEA mattress, same in UK, advantage is 365 day return policy plus 20 year guarantee, no topper required

Sealy is worth it. Index have a decent range of sealys.

I read a long article in a foreign language about this.

Summary: it's complicated

We all have different habits. Then there is the temperature, humidity, etc.

There is no best for all solution.

So whatever advice you get here or elsewhere be aware that if 10 people like it that doesn't mean that is best for you.

Now got a standard thai bed and mattress  which is quite firm with a Ikea topper. Before or still have Ikea mattress  at guestroom.

Ikea do have some quality mattresses so worth to check out. Anyway happy with a firm mattress and for my back, those memory foam kills it. Cant get out of bed in the morning after only one night.

I have rarely slept on anything comfortable during the recent 45 years since coming to Asia.

I have slept on plenty of tatami flooring of high quality.

Actually, the only thing I miss after leaving the West for the East, is a decent bed.

Of course, I also miss Stilton cheese. But Stilton cheese isn't that important to me.

The thing that I really miss most about being in Asia is a good quality mattress.

When I die, I just hope that the undertaker will lay me to rest on a quality mattress...

When I die..

When I die....

They are available here. What I have found is that my hip pain that I have had for 5 years is solely due to a firm mattress, and so I search for a cloud.

You are entirely CORRECT concerning your hypothesis that hip pain is exacerbated by not sleeping on a cloud-like mattress.

If only there was one.

But, have you tried this:
