Mother killed by bus while biking daughter to school

BANGKOK: -- A mother was run over and killed by a city bus Thursday morning while riding a bicycle to take her daughter to school in Bangkok's Bangkok Yai district.

The 7-year-old daughter, Thananthorn On-ngern, was also severely injured in the accident which happened at 7 am on the Aroon-Amarin Road.

Police said the mother, Kanda On-ngern, was biking out of the soi to the main road on her way to Wat Hong Ratanaram School when Bus No 57 hit her bike and ran over her body, killing her at the scene.

The bus driver, Juti Phuttharat, told police that he did not see the bicycle while changing lane. He heard a loud noise and went down the bus to see the woman had already been killed and the daughter was struck under the bus.

The girl was rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital.

People in the neighbourhood said the mother rode her daughter to school every morning.

Another waste of life. Let's hope the daughter pulls through. RIP, a caring mother.

what a tragedy :o((

rip and a real get-well for the daughter...

This is a real tragedy. A young woman doing the right thing and loses her life in the process.

There are many instances where people die here in the realm and I would simply say "som nam naa" but definitely not in cases such as this.

May she RIP
