Of course not. Compare the network with real commuter networks like London, Paris, New York etc.

Look at these tiny capacity BTS trains.

Compared and in relation to the number of travelers just a drop in the ocean.

Pattaya has a traffic problem about pedestrians along beach road??

What a brain fart.

As long as there are zero restrictions for private traffic, 24/7 on beach, 2nd rd, all side Sois nothing will change. Thailand is in an automobile dependent status like Europe in the 1950s. Free parking on the road, free parking for shoppers!!! In Switzerland you can not find a free (no cost) parking in the most sleepy district towns.

The videos from the last firework festival were just unbelievable.

Even pedestrians and bicyclist had to give up not to speak of anything motorized.

Beware you need an ambulance.

When will a stampede happen? Some idiot shouting bomb?

Every Somchai tries to drive close to the event. No shuttle from organized parking outside. No road blocks.

Every evening traffic chaos becomes part of the folklore (until you get hit by some crazy motorcyclist)

Close to zero policing even for the few rules that exist.

"Baht bus" as the backbone of public transport?

What a joke.

What a joke.

In the 70s one Australian state capital city banned ALL inner city parking. Total ban except for emergency vehicles.

Public transport was easily reorganized (not amajor re-org., not needed) to get all travellers the last km or so and it worked.

Result was dozens of floors of high rise buildings previously 'parking levels were initially unused but in time were put to productive use.

The only easy car parks I can think of in Pattaya are  Big-CX or the Tesco one on North Rd, probably easy because they are not Multi-storey. (Don't usually go to the South side). Access to those isn't great!

I suggest  a 50 baht congestion charge like London has!

This will be perfect....Families can spend some quality time in the air with theaving ladyboys, and loud drunk people....

Everything You Need to Know About the Disney Skyliner - MickeyBlog.com

But how long before passengers discover they are surrounded by lady boys and gatoey sitting up close and touching and pockets emptied and thief gone before traveller realizes.

must be the STUIDEST idea I have ever come across......

How about when they built a parking garage on Pattaya ONLY park....

Or cut down almost all the shade trees on the beach....

Or how about the endless 90 day reporting....

Such could also happen on a baht bus.

That was my point. In an earlier 'promotion for the cablecar idea it was menioned 'be free of ladyboys etc. The point in my past is that you might well encounter the same on the cablecar.

But if it happens on a Baht bus you can fairly quickly get off the bus or you can quickly attract the attention of others. the police etc. On a cablecar not so easy, your trapped in the cablecar until it comes to a stop, and not easy whilst up in the air to attract some help.

It was often a group of women, one with a large cover providing shopping bag. It was obvious as they made an effort to sit each side of a victim rather than together, and one opposite... they gave me hell when I raised the alert, but quickly got off the songtaew without paying!

The natural choice for stations or jumping off points would of course be, Walking Street, Mikes Mall, Soi 7/8, Soi 6 and I suppose that's about it really.

T21 if not a terminus and Central Festival rather than soi 7/8....?

Thé only system to alleviate traffic in Pattaya would be to ban all parking on 2nd road and beach rd and create a two way  system . Allowing only a bus service along this route.  Yes, need a taxi stop system too. All pedestrian towns  everywhere have this.  Properly implemented it could work well with the full cooperation of police and heavy fines of course. Now you can all laugh !!!

There could be a niche use for this in a specific area. But of course its an insane idea to change any structural traffic issues.

Good idea. Be excellent going up to the lookout, assuming one can still lookout around the derelict building.

Could build a big restaurant on top to take in the view while eating.

I know of no bars or adult entertainments at either of those locations, whatever were you thinking!

I don't envisage climbing up and down to a cable car when out on the razz.... I nearly broke my neck coming out of the old Heaven Above and Windmill!
