My cholesterol was about what yours is. After 6 months of 40mg of Rosuvastatin it was more than cut in half. The doctor then also started me on 10 mg of Ezetimibe which dropped it even lower. I fell SO much better than before I started the Rosuvastatin.

Do you take Rosuvastatin + Ezetimibe togheter at the same time?

Cheers

My cholesterol is also high.I took 20 mg of Simvastatin every night. After about 2 weeks I got Tinnitus. I stopped taking it, but the Tinnitus didn't go away. Now I think whatever I do I won't be immortal anyway and I care more about enjoying my last years.

It looks good in my excel spreadsheet. I tried uploading the file but that didn't work so copied and pasted it and I don't know until had uploaded it that it is far from perfect. However, I am satisfied that the information it contains is more on topic and hopefully useful

pure stupidity....people think if they decrease eating eggs their cholsterol will be better but at the same time they drink milk, eat cheese pizza etc....

1991 high cholesterol  Dr Prescribed   20 mgs of bestatin every night.

Still prescribes them every visit so have taken them for 32 years  = cholesterol is fine get the full works blood test every year

Friend has been on 40 mgs of bestatin every lunch time for about 6 years and is still on the high side

I don't worry about it.  <period>

Do I have "high cholesterol?"  Yep.  I also have had MRIs and CAT scans done in the last couple of years  What do my arteries look like?  Pretty da*m good considering my age (over 70).
My sister is the same.  She has some really scary high cholesterol readings.  And she has no Arteriosclerosis issues.  Neither one of us seem to have the profile that killed our parents - like a lifetime of smoking and drinking.

We don't smoke.  We drink in moderation.

Why worry?  But if you need to?  Take statins.  Then you can worry about your liver.

Best to take life as it comes, do your own research (no I don't 'trust experts), and live the life your allotted.

Best of luck!

I was wondering if there would be ONE other person that might have a different thought than all the others here (and in all other mainstreet doctors offices) .   Because , like anything ,  there are SOME experts,  Drs. that see things different than the majority.  I am in excellent health, low blood pressure,  high cholesterol levels.  I did my research,  and choose to believe this

Many studies have shown that old people with high cholesterol are healthier and live longer than people with low cholesterol. In fact it is dangerous to reduce cholesterol in old people. And yet that is exactly what our doctors are doing.

"The older the person is the more their low blood cholesterol poses a risk of stroke, while it has been clearly demonstrated that high blood cholesterol protects older people from strokes, heart disease, infections, cancer and many other health problems."

https://www.faim.org/do-fats-and-cholesterol-really-cause-heart-disease-or-have-we-got-it-wrong      Also a book  The Great Cholesterol Con .

This post will give everyone else posting great joy in using their "rumak is crazy" remarks.  Not necessary,  since of course they can do as they want.   My doctor just last week saw me and said, "for a person your age you are exceptional"     .

Forget that.  I like meat in all forms.  Eggs too.  I even like some bugs (the WEF breaks out with applause).  After 70+ years of life and a lot of reading including medical journals - scary stories aren't changing my lifestyle.

By the way - water fasting improves glucose and lipid profiles. But most people don't have the self-control.

My POV?  Everything in moderation.  The Middle Path.  It fits well here in Buddhist Thailand.

so you think vegans only eat beyond meat and chips?

But don't vegans tend to be self righteous and mean and aggressive? I am asking. I have met only one or two and they were that way.. but that is a small sample.

ok.. there is some research that says cholesterol performs important functions in the body... and from what I have noticed... cholesterol used to be pegged at a higher level than now being ok - - then they found a way to lower it with drugs, gave the doctors incentive $$ to sell it... and now everyone needs it... my cholesterol is probably a bit high by today's standards but I could care less...

Or too many… I noticed that lots of people I know who gave up meat these past few years have put on weight.

Plenty of carbs. Not enough meat is obviously the problem. Of course they can workaround, but I suppose many are so blinded by their high purpose that they don't know what to do. P. D. Mangan used to be a skinny vegan, into jogging. ????

Replace that by a beer and it's perfect.
