Prachuap Khiri Khan was among the provinces earning the most money from tourism during the first ten months of the year, according to Deputy Government Spokesperson Tipanan Sirichana.

From January through October, Prachuap Khiri Khan generated 854 million baht from tourism, the ninth highest across all provinces in Thailand.

Phuket was the top earner from tourism by some distance, earning over 127 billion baht. This was followed by Chonburi in second place, with 13 billion baht while Surat Thani in third place with 7 billion baht in tourism income.

Phuket also received the highest number of foreign tourists, not including Bangkok, with almost 2.4 million international arrivals to the island from January to October.

Cheaper than Hua Hin, a long standing Thai vacation spot. It would be interesting to know the demographics of visitors, are they mostly locals or are foreigners going there to cut costs.

Hua Hin is in Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Here's part of the answer: during the first 6/7 months of 2022:

"Approximately 5 million Thai tourists and over 40,000 foreign tourists visited the province, generating a total of 17,442 million baht in tourism revenue.

The revenue generated was split into 17 billion baht from Thai tourists and 400 million baht from foreign tourists".

A poster recently was trying to suggest that domestic tourism in Thailand amounts to very little, because nobody has any money and because of the covid lockdown and the ailing economy. Really?

I'm referring to the town of Prachup Kiri Khan, I thought that was self evident since I mentioned Hua Hin also.

New-blip not about PKK municipality, just the province, mainly HH.

In article, list of province by foreign visitors and PKK not on the list.   As mostly a domestic tourist destination.  BKK weekenders, and same with PKK municipality, though nothing like HH.  PKK municipality doing better, but still slow to recover.  Dead during the week and weekends are always busy. With local (100 kms radius) and bkk weekenders who make the extra effort with another hour south pass HH.

Interesting they use the same 'file photo' when stating tourist numbers are low ????

If we really are in the era of low spending tourists, PKK should do well, at HH's cost.
