American man and Thai wife lose 15.2 million baht in Hua Hin property fraud
15MB is a huge amount of money--at least it is for me. Why wouldn't you spend a tiny percentage of that amount to hire a reputable lawyer to look over all the paperwork before you sign anything, answer any and all questions you may have, make sure you are happy and in agreement with all the terms in the paperwork, and be there for you through the entire transaction until its conclusion? This gentleman is not a newbie--from the article, he worked in Bangkok for a number of years. He should not have been so wet-behind-the-ears clueless. Before we hear from the Peanut Gallery, yes, there are reputable lawyers. Before you hire any lawyer, have the lawyer supply you with a copy of their lawyer's license certificate. This should be on an A4 size paper and include a photo and current, valid date showing the lawyer is in good standing with the Lawyers Council. If they won't supply this, look for another lawyer. Spouse and I built a new home last year. First thing we did was buy the land. We are planning to build another home this year--and the first thing we will do is buy the land. -

Road Safety in Thailand – a summary of Perceptions and Reality
Your response is nothing more than thinly veiled racial stereotyping, dressed up as ‘observable fact.’ You are putting forward an argument that is using entirely racial terms Blaming an entire nationality instead of looking at the actual causes—infrastructure, enforcement, education—is intellectually lazy and avoids any serious discussion. Saying ‘they’ means Thais because ‘they’re the ones driving in Thailand’ is like saying all Americans are obese because they live in the U.S.—it’s a meaningless generalization or syllogism that ignores data, context, and reality. You’re not ‘observing facts’—you’re cherry-picking anecdotes to reinforce your pre-existing bias. The real difference between us? I’m talking about solutions based on scientific evidence. —you’re just ranting about ‘bad Thai drivers’ like it’s some inherent trait. It’s not. It’s a product of systemic issues—which you conveniently ignore because that would require actual critical thinking instead of lazy blame. And calling me an ‘apologist’ is hilarious coming from someone who’s actively excusing government inaction by pretending this is just about ‘bad drivers.’ The reality? Your mindset is part of the problem. The rest of us are discussing actual solutions—you’re just screaming into the void." -

Leaving Thailand 2024
I still believe in soul-mates. If I find one, I'll get hitched. Otherwise, I will stay single. I'm a weirdo anyway, so I don't need to conform to societal norms. Getting hitched complicates life. Then the decisions all have to be consentual with the other person. You may end up in Isaan or moving back home even if you prefer to stay in Thailand. -

Trump’s Bold Proposal to End Gaza’s Cycle of Suffering
The Palestinians have been offered their own state on numerous occasions since 1948. They have always rejected one assumes because acceptance would require recognition of Israel’s right to exist.- 2

American man and Thai wife lose 15.2 million baht in Hua Hin property fraud
Yes we 'brought' a few years ago in hua hin. Very similar set up in terms of the house building from scratch and you pay per month as the build progresses. Well still 5 years on now from completion and the house is still in the name of the property agent that sold us the build! All monies paid from us but no property. Most lawyers were off little hope as most of them work with the agent. Lol won't be doing that again. I really thought we would be ok, seeing as the woman that sold us was a known established firm and had family in hua hin. -

Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
In my opinion, it's obvious and implied that not all offices are up to date. Definitely not and beyond that there remain a number of things to still work out or even changed. I don't think they would have squirmed at all. A simple -- unfortunately not.
