There actually is one such place that I believe is near the ISB school but I can never remember its name. It's essentially a little American bubble.  It sounds to me like hell on earth.

I believe you're thinking of Nichada Thani in Nonthaburi. Yes, it's rather like an American suburb, but the children mostly go to the very expensive ISB - proximity to the school is the main reason that people live out there - rather than any public school.

One problem with the OP's dream of "a place sizable enough to have a local public high school with a nationally ranked debate team" (other than the fact that I don't think debate teams really exist in Thailand) is that the very concept doesn't really apply here. Since schools aren't locally funded, and the lack of zoning means that rich and poor usually live very close to each other, you're not likely to find one local school that's substantially better than others nearby. (Of course, any such school would teach in Thai in any case.)

Just my opinion.

There is a gated housing development immediately next to Sarasas Suvarnabhumi. Nice roads, families walking their dogs and/or children, community swimming pool. Sounds like what you are describing here.

There is such place in Bangkok.  I can’t recall the name.
But many people that come to the LOS are living barebones.  So those types of communities would not be popular or feasible for them.

Debating is all but done in the US.  Try sharing a differing opinion and all you will get is shouted down, called a racist, a transphobe, homophobe misogynistic, white supremacist, fascist (for some reason) or whatever the new woke label of the month is.

Even worse....A Socialist....555.

People who tout racist, transphobe, homophobe, misogynistic, white supremacist and/or fascist bigoted opinions are liable to find themselves being called out as racist, transphobe, homophobe, misogynistic, white supremacist and/or fascist bigots.

Simples.

Sounds a bit Stepford Wives to me. I would be steering clear of such a place rather than heading to it.

I don't feel so strongly in either direction.

Am simply curious as to whether such places exist in Thailand.

I probably should've made myself more clear in the original post that I'm not referring to some expat family enclave next to a private school for their offspring.

Rather, I'm curious to know if there's an actual Thai community (or Thai-Chinese, Thai-Viet community) that somewhat resembles the description in the original post.

One earlier poster said something about the haves and have-nots tending to live in proximity because there are comparatively less zoning regulations than in most western countries.  That was intriguing to hear.

Udon Thani.

Really?      I never caught that strong a vibe, though I'm sure Udon has more educated upper-middle class persons than, say, Beung Kan or Yasothon.  What particular part of Udon city do you have in mind?

I would have thought Khon Kaen is the closest thing in Isan.  Maybe because there's a major university with a med school and a bunch of important hospitals.   All those doctors have to live somewhere.  Maybe they live near each other and raise their kids to become future doctors?

What the f##k are you doing in Thailand.  Go back home to farangland.  There you can find what you are after in spades.

Reminds me of an American twit who asked me to help him find a house to rent.  In my village by the sea.  He stipulated all of his requirements but on the top of the list he must not be within earshot of any chickens....

Apart from Nichada

There are no such continuous area of middle class moobaans, but there are areas where's there's concentration of them like some suburbs of Bangkok like SriNakkarin road and Bangna road where there are multiple gated communities and international school and private university  in the area, but of course there'll be poor people housing between the gated community

There are integrated area with their own school or universities in the past like Muang Ake in Rangsit with their own university or Muang Thong Thani but most of these have failed and are open to the public and they just let any rift raft in, no gate and can be quite run down in places

Why is it that some have such a high anxiety regarding the comparisons to Farang societies and insist that they resemble one-n-the-same?

This mindset.

Always been baffling.
