It's almost becoming a Bangkok and Chiang Mai thing, in many other provinces it has dropped off. 

 

Don't even start on the rest of the world, where it is now becoming more and more uncommon by the day. I wouldn't be surprised if China goes maskless before Thailand. What will it take to get the land of smiles back? 

 

Even Japan is starting to relax a little, not that the almost universal mask wearing seemed to do much there - reporting 1 million cases last week!!

 

 

 

 

 

I've watched many videos of Chinese street life, day and night scenes, and I doubt that even 5% are wearing masks. In Thailand, I doubt that even 5% are not wearing them. My wife wears one even when driving alone. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if sometimes corpses are being carried to the temple for cremation still wearing a mask.

They absolutely do not. As I've posted above, I have watched many street scene videos of China on YouTube, recently filmed, and almost no-one in any of them are wearing masks.

The mask rules are still in effect on public transport.  And I commend the passengers for saying something.  I saw this incident on Thai news.  The bus was crowded and air conditioned.  So no air flow ventilation. 
The majority of people I see not wearing masks are foreigners. And some Thais But here in Asoke area it’s a very large number of foreigners. . I guess they think they don’t have to follow the rules on public transport .  Or maybe they just can’t afford to buy one.  Probably ignorant or just don’t care.  It’s like children trying to get away with something. 
What I find comical is that I see couples. Where the man is a foreigner and the woman is Thai.  The woman is wearing a mask, the man isn’t. 
If you don’t want to wear a mask on public transportation then walk,  if you don’t want to wear one as required by a privately own business.  Then go somewhere else. Simple as that.

Don't take my word for it. Google search a Shibuya crossing(busiest intersection on earth)  scene 2019 and tell me how many masks you see.  

 

 

This is not true, I just saw a 2018 photo of the Shibuya crossing and most wre not wearing masks.

The foreigner is using his brains and from a free country. and the woman is brainwashed by the Thai media and Government.. do as the higher ranked say and don't think... I see in  my area the same...But what about the nightlife in crowded pubs They don't wear masks too but nobody talks about that..

The mask thing is long gone. TIme to move on.  I am amazed at the conformist Thais that will not only wear them but mandate that others do. The recent outbreak in Korat stirred up a frenzy but then when you dig deeper the people dying were all above 60, in poor health and not vaccinated.

 

I do not wear a mask anymore.  IMHO, Its up to the individual.  If you fear Covid,  wear a mask.  If not vaccinated, wear a mask. If still afraid...stay home. The fear mongering has to stop. Today I was out and about and every single Thai I saw was wearing a mask.  I told my wife GOOD on them.  If they all wear a mask and I don't then we are all protected in our own way. Its not western arrogance.  Its reality.

If you’re wearing your mask and another person isn’t wearing theirs then how do you think you are going to get it. I thought the whole purpose of the mask was to protect yourself. I don’t understand the logic here, especially when you’re outside. So who is at risk? The people wearing masks or the people who aren’t? At least I’m glad you can’t get it while eating. ????

Do you have a single example of any airline in the world that's making their own rules on mask wearing when the departure/destination country doesn't require it? 

 

Doubt there's no mainstream ones that are doing this- why would they? As for the IATA, they couldn't wait to get the masks off!!

Again that's your view and not those of others based upon what's been stated by a Deputy health minister and the Minister of the interior which I posted above.  Just let it go, if you can. 

 

Recommendations for mask wearing are still being made.  People attending New Years eve and Christmas events in BKK are also being asked to wear masks.  Try and keep your personal feelings about mask wearing by folks stifled. If a business or entity decides masks are to be worn who are you to tell them they can not.  Do as you wish.

And I'll repeat, private bus owners can impose whatever rules they want to, show me where it says that air con bus is not privately owned.
