worgeordie Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 I am confused ... but I when to PO and they wanted to see what was inside the Christmas cards before they would accept them , not just parcels and yes they wanted ID ,that's official Post Offices , but this does not happen at unofficial or agent P.O. , so if you have anything to smuggle send it from them..... regards worgeordie 1 1
FritsSikkink Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 You would only need the receipt from the deposit and your passport.

it is what it is Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 sounds like you've been here for 27 years and learnt nothing, sometimes you just have to sit back, stay calm and go with the flow... 1

thaibeachlovers Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 Before I went home for last time I must have posted about 50 parcels ( not all at the same time- over about 2 weeks ). P O staff always polite and helpful. PS I had my passport with me. 2

Yes, I, too, just show my Thai pink ID and off my post goes, letter or box. The only questions I get are "over night" or just registered. EDIT: But that was not the issue. I should not have included that. Bedbugy, As Jerno said, punctuation and separate sentences would help. On re-reading I think you were saying you wanted to close the PO Box you have had for 27 years and get your deposit back. The PO wanted identification. Over 27 years you would have had to renew your passport several times, just like the clerk said: 3 different passports on your record. So they want to see the current one to identify you are you before giving YOUR money to someone else. Right? 1 1

Popular Post CharlieH Posted December 31, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 31, 2022 Pink ID cards works just fine for me at the Post Office. ???? or anywhere else come to that, Immigration is the only one that gets the passport. 1 1 1
Maybole Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 I use both Hang Dong and Sanpatong P.O.s regularly for registered Air Mail. I have yet to be asked for any form of I.D.
markclover Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 Hire a Thai woman to do all the post office work for you. They know how to work the system. The chances of the foreigner being able to handle all the paperwork for a business is very slim.

SuperSilverHaze Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 Funniest is roadblock cops taking your passport, pretending to scrutinize it and handing it back to you. No idea what they're looking at or for. 1

JimTripper Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 We live in an Id society now. Seems like you have to prove everything or verify who you are or have some sort of security code for every little thing. Likely to get much worse in the future.
