Hi all

Happy holidays to everyone.

UK Citizen

Back in 2021 i stayed bkk with tourist visa plus about 5 covid extensions.

I left in Mar 2022 with 4 day overstay .

In June 2022 trip i got tourist + 30 days + 1 covid extension and left with 14 overstay(was hospitalied and needed to.opearte). That time i entered via Chiang mai and then onto Bkk and left in Oct 2022.

Then in Nov 2022 I got another tourist visa but i stayed within 54 days of the 60 day visa. For the arrival, they checked return flights and hotel and asked why iam here.

Now iam planning another trip in Feb so being away for about 5-6 weeks. Should i

1. Get a tourist Visa?

2. Go through Swampy airport? I will be going to HK first.

Chances of getting back?

You may want to wait until after JAN 5 meeting, the health minister is proposing random arrival testing and checking for at least 2 injections for ALL international arrivals now that china is opening. Really insane, would be a death blow for tourism as most would choose vietnam, cambodia, philippines, malaysia at that point.

Making a 90 day report first time in a few years.

I've been doing online 90 day reports for a few years, but because I'm about to get a new passport I believe the next 90 day has to be done in person. The last time I did a report at Jomtien it was only necessary to present your passport, now I believe there are a couple of forms to fill out. I have been at the same address for 16 years, do I still have to fill out a TM30?

Chips. Machine readable. My Passport from 15 years ago was the most beautiful because I was a younger bronzed god, before I went to seed.

In IMO - passports are outdated... - Passports are fragile - water, bent pages, wear and tear can easily damage them. For the most important document we carry, thats a bit ridiculous. - They are bulky - its a booklet that doesnt fit properly in a wallet. - Pages run out because of stamps and visas - so people end up replacing a passport that is still valid. - Border control still rely a lot on someone just looking at it - slow and easy for mistakes. - A modern ID card could hold biometrics - fingerprints, face scan, encrypted data. - A card format would make automated border gates faster - less queues, less manual checks. - Digital verification could remove a lot of paperwork for visas and entry records. - Cards would be cheaper and easier to replace if lost or damaged. - Many countries already use national ID cards - extending that for travel makes sense. - A modern travel ID could link with secure digital identity systems - you wouldnt need to keep showing documents everywhere. - Airports already use biometric gates anyway - the system is already there. - A strong plastic ID card would last far longer than a paper booklet that gets battered in bags and pockets. - The whole passport system feels outdated now - its like something designed for the 1950s not today.

As a us citizen with a Thai wife there is no option for Joint Tenants With Right of Survivorship that i am aware of and I have researched this to no end. I wish there was, but for me but and my situation it is a lengthy confusing process for the joint owner, my thai wife. to claim the remaining $ from the account after I pass. She can only claim 25% and the rest goes into the estate. If you can find a way around this, good on you. Just beware This is from the international estate specialist at Schwab "If you are a resident of Thailand at the time of your passing: A. The Designated Beneficiary Plan Agreement is void and the assets in the brokerage account will default to the estate. Beneficiary designation on our brokerage accounts is not permissible for non-U.S. residents. If your estate is probated in Thailand, Schwab will require the following documents for the individual brokerage account: · Copy of Probate or Succession Document issued by the Court naming the Executor of the estate. · Copy of the Executor’s valid Passport · IRS Transfer Certificate. o The distribution of assets from the estate is not allowed for international probate until after the IRS has addressed any potential tax obligations due from the Estate. The executor will be required to reach out directly to the IRS to apply for this document. This is not a Schwab process.
