Documents required to extend Thai retirement visa (non 'o')

Just about to renew my retirement visa for the 5th-6th (?) time and checking about documents requ'd for this.  (Googled it and get a bunch of visa agents).  Here is a list of what I think I need.  (The local immigration officers know me and are friendly here, btw)

 

Passport

Request to renew statement (official document form)

Yellow book

Pink card

Bank books with current balance dated on the day

Bank letter, same date, verifying balance over 800,000 THB (the figures noted must match bank book EXACTLY) 

photos

Wife's ID?

Wife's house book?

 

My wife will not be going with me and don't think it necessary, is this correct?

 

We have lived in the same house that I built for the past 5 years and I almost always see the same officer.

They wont even start to do one at my office until they see a TM30, on paper, showing them it on the phone from their own data base does not count. Never been asked for house book or wife's ID, its a retirement extension not marriage, not pink card or yellow book either.

You need some sort of proof of address though - usually it would be a rental contract.  The wife's housebook, ID card and marriage certificate seem to satisfy them of that. That is what I provided last year anyway for my retirement extension. My wife did not accompany me.

OP, you need to state your immigration office for accurate information.

Thanks DrJack, I am in Buriram.  Also forgot, I have a usufruct on the land (that I bought and put i wife's name) and a TM6 and a TM30 stapled in my passport along with my last 90 day.  Due on the 01 01 2023 but he said come in any day this week, no problem, so I go tomorrow.  Hopefully miss the Monday crowds at the immigration office and  bank too.  Yellow book shows my address btw.  Thanks again.

Done extensions for 17 years at various offices, can't recall ever being asked for proof of address, sometimes they want to see last 90 day report

That should be plenty for proof of address.

Seems now CW is asking to see last 90 day report and you have that and also note a TM30 in pp.

That should cover it. 

 

Just the usual photocopies from your pp eg identity age last extension stamp and last entry stamp.

I always provide my original non O stamp or if you have a renewal pp the info for that visa is in first page in current pp.

 

Obviously all the banking side of things.

Seems that you are providing photocopies of bankbook pages for last 12 months and not bank statements.

Not sure what Buriram insist upon.

Seems many offices are now insisting on 12 months of bank statements.

@notrub   As you are no doubt aware, what documents are required to renew your permission to stay depends upon a mystical combination of which immigration office you use, which immigration officer will process your application, what side of the bed they got out of that morning and what day of the week or month it is.

 

According to the Immigration Regulations there are specific documents that you must produce in order to facilitate your renewal.  Then there are any number of other documents that the officer may decide are also ‘mandatory’.

 

From my experience of renewing my permission to stay (non-O based on retirement) for the past 10 years, I go to the immigration office (Nakhon Pathom) with 2 folders.  One contains all the documents that are required under the relevant Regulations, the other contains documents which the officer might ask for.

 

Folder #1 – Must Have Documents

Passport

Completed TM7 form – Application for extension of temporary stay in kingdom.

Passport style photo of self (4 x 6 cm).

B&W photocopy of passport biographical page.

B&W photocopy of last permission to stay stamp.

 

For 800K funds in bank

Bank book - updated.

B&W Photocopy of bank book ownership data page and page(s) showing funds – as updated.

Letter from bank confirming ownership of account and funds dated same day as bank book update.

 

For monthly overseas transfer of funds

Bank book - updated.

Copy of bank book ownership page and pages showing funds deposited from overseas.

Bank statement for past 12 months showing transfer of funds monthly from overseas.

Letter from bank confirming ownership of account and funds.

 

1,900 THB renewal fee.

 

NOTE:  Documents from folder #1 are the only ones handed over to the immigration officer.  If the officer asks for anything else, then they are given it from folder #2 which is held in reserve.

 

Folder #2 – Backup Documents (just in case)

B&W photocopies of all previous permission to stay stamps.

B&W photocopy of TM30 – Notification of aliens staying at residence.

B&W Photocopy of current TM47 receipt – Notification of staying longer than 90 days.

B&W photocopy of TM6 – Departure card.

B&W photocopies of wife’s ID card and house registration book.

B&W photocopy of pink card and yellow house book.

B&W photocopy of marriage certificate.

B&W Photocopy of map showing location of house (Google).

B&W photocopies of bank credit advice notification (funds transferred from overseas).

B&W photocopy of UK bank statement showing funds origin and transfer.

B&W photocopy of pension funds deposits.

 

NOTE:  All photocopies should be signed by you except your wife’s ID and house registration book which she should sign.

 

In my ten years renewing my permission to stay, Nakhon Pathom immigration office have stuck to the mandatory documents (folder #1).  I only recall one occasion when the officer asked for my TM6 which was in fact stapled inside my passport – no photocopy was requested.

Well, thank you everybody.   I have most all of the docs. in Mr. Red's 1st and 2nd folders and the officer knows me from 2 or 3 years of 90 day etc. so should be good.  Didn't think about providing copies of everything so thanks for the reminder.  The cat asked me to wish you a Happy New Year.  Thanks again.

Quick follow up.  All went zero problems and safely installed for another year.  My yellow book was enough, btw, and did not need to produce my wife's id or house book.  Thanks again.

Does this 8000k fund need to be in the bank for a certain amount of time prior to applying for the extension?

The answer is probably somewhere else but, for retirement extension, does one need 800,000 baht in the bank for two or three months before application?

800k for Two months prior to application then maintain at that level for 3 months after application.

Can be not less than 400k at other times.
