I wasn't. I was referring to accusations of racism made by H & M. Any rational person can conclude that they implied that "incidents of racism" had occurred. There would be no basis for their accusation had they not occurred. As I said, it's not for me to challenge the veracity of H & M comments. I posted only that they had made those comments as part of the reason they had estranged themselves (at least in part) from the royal family. That they made those accusations must be beyond question at this point.

Who knows exactly what's behind Harry's and Meghan's unhappiness? Accusations in general have been made.What I'm looking for is a specific example and if I understand you correctly there may well not be one.That's all I'm suggesting - no example available.

All well and good but the point is that they made the accusation. My initial response was a post from another member claiming that they had other motives not including racism. I'm not going to be drawn into an argument about whether or not such incidents occurred. My sole point was to establish that  they did, in fact, cite racism as a motive for leaving.

 

Go ahead and prove they are liars yourself if you wish. I have proved my point that  they made the accusation. That's all I set out to do.

It is also a damn site more expensive - particularly living the lifestyle they aspire to.

 

Neither are particularly employable, he is a Prince, in a country which doesn't have royalty; and as the second string to his bow an ex junior army officer who left when he was required to take the examination for promotion to Major. She was a supporting role TV actress. So the only thing they have is their "Royal" titles. These  on their own have little long lasting draw, so manufacturing a very public estrangement with Harry's family was the road they started down. That is not really going anywhere now. The money will run out in time - I suspect sooner rather than later. When the money goes I suspect the marriage will as well.

 

A long, quiet, comfortable if boring retirement at Frogmore Cottage is probably what awaits - he can watch TV with his neighbour Uncle Andrew!

I'm quite interested in how racism is deployed in modern times as shorthand word for all kinds of complex issues, and Meghxit is a classic instance.Yet not one credible example of royal family racism has been produced.

Any sympathy I might have once had for this couple has evaporated. 

He should have just shown some British stiff upper lip and played the role he was born into. Whatever problems he had before he has made them worse. They made their bed now lie in it and stop being so tedious.

   We have has years of hearing about Megans public arguments with the USA family , its like a soap opera with numerous family members involved all arguing with each other in the media .

Simple PR. He didn't need to 'speak to' the Chief Rabbi, any Jew could have explained why his actions were so reprehensible and he could have simply listened, not spoken - he might have learned something for once. Likewise, there was no need to travel to Berlin (I thought he was an eco warrior) there are Holocaust survivors right there in London. Yeah I agree. He was old school. Born in 1921. He struck me as a nice bloke but a bit out of touch and from a completely different era. 

 

As I said before, it's really unfair to judge someone who spent their formative years in the 1930's by todays standards of Wokery and perpetual offence taking. 

 

If the current trend continues the things we say that are part of everyday language today will be punishable by death by about 2070. Personally I think we've almost reached "Peak Woke" and common sense will start to prevail, as we've started to see recently with the WBC stopping men beating up women in the boxing ring in the name of being trans inclusive.

I've certainly never disliked him, he's a character with individuality, the same as all the royals. They've all been wrapped up in their own little world where reality is very different from us. Each make mistakes, taking Prince Philips's comments and there are many, should be done with context. The same as with Harry's and the others. Trying to justify and defend one only is not right. As I said before, they are all human and make mistakes. This situation with Harry/Meghan and the Royals is tragic but not being part of that circle its impossible for me to know the true facts so that's why I make no comment on the actual topic. Anyway here is an update, the Guardian has a copy of the book for those who want to knock Harry again.

Wow, William just went up in my estimation.

 

I always liked him to be honest. Seems like he has something about him. Beautiful wife/kids as well. The country is in safe hands.

 

It's a shame Harry had to go crying to the public about it (again!) though. Still, I guess he has no other way to pay for all those planet saving private jets, SUV's and 16 bedroom mansions.
