webfact Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Picture: Thai Rath Krabi Phitak Pracha rescue services were called after a 19 year old German man fainted and fell down stone steps atop Wat Tham Seua in Krabi, southern Thailand. He was lucky that a fence stopped his fall, otherwise it might have been a fatal plunge into a ravine at the popular tourist attraction. Rescue services got bad news on arrival with their gear and stretchers - it was more than 1,000 steps to reach the injured man at a viewing platform. Picture: Thai Rath Thai Rath reported that this was accomplished in nearly an hour. At the scene was 19 year old Edel Lorel with a bloody head wound and severe neck pains. Picture: Thai Rath He had been helped by a foreign lady who was understood to be a nurse. Thai rescue took over and the man was secured on the stretcher for a two hour journey to the ground and a waiting ambulance for Krabi Hospital. Picture: Thai Rath A rescue worker told the media the German man had fallen 30 steps after probably fainting from being tired with the climb. Only a fence stopped him from tumbling down the ravine in his fall. Picture: Thai Rath It could have been a lot worse; the tourist was conscious and needed X-rays. He said that it was 1,260 steps to the top of Wat Tham Seua. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2023-01-11 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. PJPom Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 I have often wondered how long it would take to carry someone down from the top. The last time I climbed it my Thai wife made sure I was carrying phone number for her just in case. Must try it again before I get too old, view from the top is excellent. 1

Aussieroaming Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Well done volunteer rescue. I really do hope that the young man has travel or accident insurance.
