Three southern insurgents were shot dead during a clash with government security forces, in the mountains of Si Sakhon district in the restive southern province of Narathiwat, on Friday morning. The security forces suffered no casualties.

Acting on a tipoff, that a group of insurgents had set up a jungle camp in the mountains in Ban Da Hong in Choeng Khiri sub-district, a contingent of troops and paramilitary rangers went to investigate.

The security forces entered the woods on foot, until they came across about ten huts. They called out to those in the camp to surrender, but the insurgents started shooting at them, triggering a fierce gunfight.

Or three muslim terrorists to give them a more honest description

For an honest description, the Thai military might be called Buddhist terrorists suppressing a Muslim nation. Same as Ukrainian soldiers fighting for their homeland, its traditions and culture being called 'terrorists/-insurgents' by the Russian government who calls its own military soldiers 'heroes.'

Similar to Russia that claims areas of Ukraine invaded and occupied by Russia 2014-present become part of Russian sovereignty, thus defending against Russia amounts to an insurgency.

Does it matter how we call these people? The violence continues anyway and it needs to stop. There must be a political solution.

There is no 'muslim nation' in Thailand, they are a small minority in a Buddhist country. They are unfortunately followers of a man who is quoted in the haddith of Bukharil as saying he was made victorious with terror (over the Meccans) So some follow his murderous and devious example. The good news here is three of these terrorists were killed, although you probably see them as 'martyr's' for the cause of promoting an islamic homeland. Most muslims I have met here have been great people, but in spite of rather than because of the nonsense they follow, most of them have lille idea about islam so are not a problem. The ones that are a threat are like these three dead ones, who follow the commands of the Quran and example of the so called prophet to the letter, who murdered his way to power.

Southern Thailand is part of Thailand, if any groups want to break away slaughtering innocent people, at present over 5k, is not the way to go about it, whatever their religion and history tells them
