POLICE have launched a serious disciplinary inquiry over payoff by a Chinese grey capitalist gang to a 191 and Department of Special Investigation team during a raid of a house in Thungmahamek area and then walked free, Naewna newspaper said this afternoon (Jan. 20).

Pol. Maj. Gen, Archayon Kraithong, the police spokesman, said the police team had demanded over 9 million baht from the Chinese suspects to not arrest them during a raid of the house which was the residence of former consul of Republic of Nauru, an island country and microstate in Oceania, and was used by the gang as a hideout and passport-forging den.

Altogether nine 191 policemen and two senior officers, one the Deputy Chief of 191 police and the other the Deputy Chief of Metropolitan Police, are being investigated with the senior chiefs being questioned over their supervision of policemen under their charge who violated regulations.

A tad embarrassing one would say... corruption in the farce is strong.

As I’ve said before this is the reason the police are not doing there job policing the roads and picking up small change from drivers for breaking the law. They are all chasing the big pay offs in fact you could say they are killing people on the roads while off chasing the big pay day. They kill for money!! Shame shame drop the Royal from their title they don’t deserve it.

Shamefully activity, a shakedown to allow continued operating of illegal activities. Sounds like they should be charged with not only extortion but also aiding and abetting. Charge them and prosecute them as accessories to the Chinese Triad.....better yet bin the whole police agency from the top down and redo it like the UAE did years ago.

I just guess the pay-off has to change hands so these ones also can walk free.

Water boarding would be more productive.  It is rumored that a few of the senior police officers rather enjoy a good probing.

This chinese crew were paying for protection, unfortunately it was to local police. 191/SBB wanted their cut. Think this Tuhao gang has been been chewed down to the carcass.

191/SBB, along with ISOC, have a reputation for maintaining the political status quo. See Red Drum killings.

while you're at it, why stop there. the whole police department from the very top (they're the worse) to the very bottom should be look into.

Who would be left to do the actual investigation though?

Baldhead is suppressing a grin, pudgy guy in the middle just business as usual, the lady now she looks quite stern with her dominatrix/dungeon vibe ready to use that ballpoint pen in unimaginable ways.

Does anyone remember an article from a year or two back when a whole pile of special officers raided a large house in Pattaya and the Chinese occupant opened fire on them with an AK47. At the time he said he thought he was being robbed. Does anyone know what the outcome of that one was?
