Police and rescue services were called to Soi Phor Khun Thale in Muang district of Surat Thani in southern Thailand after a 16 year old youth was stabbed in the street.

Kantaphat had seven stab wounds to his arms and back and was taken to hospital.

A 15 cm knife that had come out of its handle was taken into evidence at the scene.

Dit, a noodle seller, said he saw two men run across the road before one of the men fled on a motorcycle.

The victim put up no fight whatsoever.

He said the men had left their bikes lying in the road and he thought it was just an everyday fight, not a stabbing.

He had no idea what it was about, reported Thai Rath.

At the ER reporters met friends of the victim and his mother as they examined a jacket with stains worn by her son.

She said he was a lovely boy with lots of friends who never caused anyone any trouble.

But she said that he is cross-eyed (a condition known formally as stabismus).

People who know him often think he is looking directly at them when he is not.

She thinks this may be the reason he was attacked for "looking at someone".

This is over the top, she said, and demanded that the police find the attacker and prosecute him to the full extent of the law.

A local at the scene recorded what happened on video.

Gutless animals, should be locked up for good.

Mum is sweet and loves her boy dearly but dumping a motorbike in the road and then running across traffic it to beat and stab someone doesn’t sound like a ‘misunderstanding’.

I suggest there is more to this than meets they eye.

No pun intended.

I know I shouldn't, but I had to smile about the cross eyed thing.

How fickle are these gutless cowards!

I highly doubt it was because the lad was cross-eyed, in the

dark and suspects on motor bikes , it would be difficult for

them to see his eyes and think he was looking at them, something

more serious was going on, hope they soon find the attackers ,and

the young lad make a full recovery.

Yes you will get killed.  Never look at anyone unless they talk to you.  Basic rules of the street.

"and he thought it was just an everyday fight, not a stabbing."

one-on-one is not an everyday fight in Thailand without a weapon....

angry/drunk/jealous/etc Thai boy in a tantrum with a knife...............

Never back down, stare at them until they stare away.......it is YOUR street, don't be bullied.

I'll stare down 100 soi dogs, 100 ninjas, and 3000 Chinese Triad gang members before they teach ME the "rules of the street."
