Lots of different countries in the EU you can spend your 90 days, no need to ever return home. 90 days in south of France + 90 days in Spain + 90 days in Portugal ....... Nope. UK citizens can only stay in the Schengen area for a maximum of 90 days and then have to leave the Schengen area and not return for 3 months. It is one of the 'new found freedoms' apparently. Oh, and from November you'll need an ETIAS as well. https://www.gov.uk/visit-eu-switzerland-norway-iceland-liechtenstein/how-long-stay-without-visa 3

No they don't need a visa but from November, but iike all non-EU visa nationals, they will need an ETIAS (similar to a US visa waiver), valid for three years from November of this year. and costing 7 Euros (free for under 18s)
