Hello Fellow Fa-langs, Half-Thai's and Lovers of Thailand and Bangkok, and everyone else :-).

I'm looking for a hotel and decent wedding package to have my wedding in a couple of months time in BKK, and have looked at the Ambassador initally. All decent, and ok, but anyone with any reviews or indirect/direct experiences of different wedding packages...

Any person recommending my selected choice, will be invited to my wedding - It will be a very Special wedding evening party and loads of fun.... More details to follow

Cheers,

J

Hi J.

My wife and I didn't want something boring and traditional.

We shopped around at the various hotels and were surprised at the variety and the range of costs. We went to many of the wedding service places that are dotted all over bangkok. There's a ton of them around Thong Lo. I could have been costumed as a Chinese warlord and my wife could have been a white-wigged French countess - mole and all. It was a riot. It really made me aware of what a wedding is all about.

Anyway, we ended up using the Reflections Hotel near the Ari skytrain station. You can google them for more information. It's a funky art-boutique hotel.

Our wedding was more like a really cool party. We arranged alot of the things for ourselves such as the flowers, decorations, and wedding gifts. We bought her dress at Siam Square. I bought a nice suit at Central. We did alot of things ourselves before the wedding. That might not be an option for you.

We had about 150 guests with a full dinner buffet (Mostly Thai food).

It definitely wasn't a hi-society wedding and had no pretentions of trying to be. That freed us to enjoy our wedding with all the other guests.

It wasn't easy for us to do this. We are both strong-willed and want our own way. In the end - it was the greatest ever.

By the way, the traditional Thai wedding with the monks we did in the morning at the monk hospital. It was fantastic. They took care of almost everything. We rented her traditional Thai dress.

Congratulations

C.

We had our Thai ceremony at Kukrits house on Narthiwas Soi 7 behind Sathorn Road, an absolutely stunning venue, but not sure if it is still open to the public... Our Thai reception at the Tawana Ramada on Surawong, which was nice and reasonably priced, with decent food (not that I got to eat any) for 150 guests or so. Again definitely not high-so.

We followed this up with a Christian wedding on the beach at Le Vimarn resort on Koh Samed, for 50 close friends and immediate family, which was brilliant!

We also arranged all the flowers, cakes and invites ourselves. It was a lot of work but it was well worth it.

Congratulations and enjoy your day!

We used a placed called Ruenjoawsa 779 Soi Sakhorn Vibhawadi-Ranghit Road Chatuchak Bangkok.

It is a traditional Thai house that is designed specifically for weddings. It was fabulous. They arranged everything for us including the 9 monks, thai band, flowers, reception for 100 and the host who was like a master of ceremonies for the whole do. We even had a translator for the service. All for about 50K baht; a bargain.

My wife found it in an article in one of the glossy wedding magazines. I thought it would be very expensive but compared to the hotels it was dirt cheap but without ever looking it. They stinted on nothing.

All my future weddings will be here!!!!! :o

Blimey that was a good deal!

Yes I was stunned!! We had to give the monks an envelope with money in it (I think 200 each) and the beer was extra ( we hired a beer bar and only had to pay for the kegs we used which was dead cheap too) but the soft drinks were free and just kept coming from the moment we arrived until the end 7 hours later.

All in all my wedding, the hand made dress, my suit, the video, photos came to less than £1000. I knew it would be a lot cheaper in Thailand so I budgeted £3,000 for the day so I was one happy chappy. What was best was that it really looked amazing from the building to the flowers. And to be able to walk out of the wedding onto the massive decked outdoor reception area for the party was great.

A fabulous day!

Excellent! I will definitely check this out... Going out end of August after finishing a project in the UK, but would like to keep you up to date, on which choice I did in the end. But this one sounds like a winner! :-)

Cheers,

J
