Thai Rath reported on a case of matricide in Ang Thong province in central Thailand.

Muang Ang Thong police arrested a 46 year old man at a lantern festival in the Talat Luang sub-district at 8.30 pm yesterday.

Natthajak Bunlert was just walking around.

He was taken to the Pho Thong police station where his urine tested purple for the presence of drugs.

Earlier in the evening he had murdered his own mother.

He said he had asked her for the motorcycle keys but she gave him the wrong ones.

For this he stabbed her to death.

He then found that the right keys were still in the bike's ignition.

He then went off to the lantern festival.

He realised now that what he did was wrong and asked for his mother's forgiveness saying may she rest in peace.

Thai Rath referred to the suspect as a "look Thoraphee".

This is an ungrateful child from a story about two buffaloes in the Thai Ramakien based on the Ramayana epic.

The Story of Thorapha and Thoraphee.

It took him until he was arrested to realise that murdering his own mum was wrong? <deleted>!!

UPDATE:

Murder of mum: Witnesses say son arrived to get drug money before 81 year old lady is stabbed to death

INN reported from Ang Thong in central Thailand about the murder of a woman by her son.

This was an earlier report to the one about the son's capture and his claim that he killed her because she couldn't locate some bike keys, as reported by ASEAN NOW.

Pho Thong police went to House #16 in Moo 4 of Bang Plap where Jirapha Bunlert, 81, lay dead in bed from stab wounds to her right side of the chest and her neck.

Her grandson Supharoj - the murderer's son - said he was out back when he heard his gran shouting.

He went to see what was wrong and saw his father driving off on a motorcycle.

Witnesses claimed that Natthajak, the victim's son, had entered the house while she was eating and demanded money for drugs that she refused.

He tried to find some money before stabbing her to death and driving off.

The later report said he was picked up walking around at a nearby lantern festival in the district.

Don't you just hate it when that happens.

Thankfully no I do not read American news, I have in the past and have found that the media over hypes most of the sad sorrowful happenings in that country and in itself failing miserably to show any compassion for the victim and families in it’s never ending search for sensationalism.

Further I was not Thai bashing far from it, more like commenting on the appalling lack of educational standards causing a complete lack of understand of the difference between right and wrong.

RIP to this poor woman who was killed because she had no money for drugs.

I really hate charts that are per capita. When a country like the USA has a huge population,

of course it will be low on the chart. Banana strong, maybe find a chart that just has

numbers not linked, per capita, it would be helpful. Thanks

If you look at all the Countries in the world , the USA is near the top , dont forget that there's about 200 other Countries on the list below the USA

NOBOBY murders anyone over motorcycle keys!!!   You're telling me the relationship was great, stable, and then all of a sudden she can't find the right keys???

This was the tipping point, sure.   The catalyst, definitely.   But let's not act like there wasn't a keg of explosives just underneath the surface.

not sure where to give blame.  Him 100%, sure.  Maybe lack of education.  Maybe too much drinking, etc....mental health, who knows....... but there is more to this story then a perfect family destroyed by lost keys.
