Sanook Thai Caption: The poor old trees

Sanook reported that Thai social media turned on staff at a national park in the north after they had a contractor asphalt an area of trees for a car park.

The situation came to light on the Facebook page of award winning writer Vanchai Tantivitayapitak who pointed out that such work would kill the trees.

They would be unable to get water or develop naturally.

Chiang Dao Wildlife Sanctuary in Chiang Mai responded at 11 pm last night promising that the asphalt would be removed one meter around each tree.

Were they asked for permission?

As long as someone got a kick back that’s all that matters to them

Maybe if they had painted the tree trunks white. no one would have noticed.
