A spy at Berlin's British embassy, who sold secrets to Russia and was caught in an undercover MI5 sting, has been jailed for 13 years and two months.

David Smith, 58, tried to damage Britain's interests by passing on details of the embassy and its staff for cash payments, a judge found after the spy pleaded guilty.

Sentencing him, Mr Justice Wall said Smith had "put people at maximum risk".

BBC was showing sentencing hearing live, for quite a bit. Was interesting at the very least.

But then 6 pm came and poof! gone. to run a few "ads" for various sponsors

I don't think they ever went back.

I'm not going to defend him but it shows the danger of online miss information. He became pro Russia and putin because of reading one sided views online you read a few articles online and this will be all news you will get to reaffirm that thought's

Can somebody please explain why Russia would be interested in the UK's embassy and staff in Berlin?  Enough to pay for it?
