Subsidies for households 300 units or less of electricity per month

The Thai cabinet has approved 3.19 billion baht to subsidise electricity bills of households that consume no more than 300 units of electricity per month from January to April.

 

The budget is divided into 2.67 billion baht for the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) and the remainder for the Metropolitan Electricity Administration (MEA), to ease the financial burden of having to bear the cost of reducing the electricity charges for the smaller users.

 

Only households which are located in the areas covered by the services provided by the MEA, PEA, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and in areas under the concession contract of the Royal Thai Navy will be eligible for the four month subsidy.

No mention of how much the subsidy per household is from what I can see. Just got my MEA bill yesterday for 156kwh (units). Paid it today. Now looking at it in detail it seems that there was a discount of 104.58 Baht. Still so much cheaper than my UK electric bill when in London.

I like this policy.  They had it back in 2008 as well.  It effectively helps those that need assistance, and me. ????

It looks like they are continuing the reduced FT rate that was introduced last year. We got a refund of the FT that was deducted in January.

Since they likely use more than 300 units in total it won't make any difference to their costs. If you use less then 300 units you won't get any advantage either ????

My tenant has a question about his PEA bill.  First, the circumstances are that we have 2 meters on the property. where the Thai land owner has his meter and my house has a separate PEA meter which is charged the premium rate of 6.8 baht/unit. I don't need advice on that situation. It is this: my house bill shows 682 units x .6.8 = 4640 baht.  on top of that there is a charge (called ''monthly fee'' in Thai language). That is calculated on the bill as: 682 units x 1.5492 = 1056 baht. my question is this: is this a normal rate or a premium of some sort, introduced by PEA for users with excessive usage? . My buddies and I pay a monthly 'premium' fee at the rate of .93 baht/unit.

Is your bill an actual printed PEA bill from the man's machine?

 

If so, I suspect you are on a "construction" supply which is basically double the standard PEA rate.

 

If you could post a photo/scan of your last bill (redact any identifying information) and one of the knowledgeable ones can give you a more directed response.
