Pheu Thai’s Paetongtarn voted the favourite candidate for PM – Nida Poll

Pheu Thai Party’s advisory chief Paetongtarn Shinawatra is the most favoured candidate for the prime minister’s post, followed by Move Forward Party Leader Pita Limjaroenrat and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha of the United Thai Nation Party, according to the latest opinion poll conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA).

 

NIDA organised a simple random sample survey by conducting phone interviews with 2,000 respondents aged over 18-year-old, in various occupations and from different educational backgrounds across the country.

 

The poll shows 38.20% of the respondents favour Paetongtarn for the next premiership, followed by 15.75% for Pita and 15.65% for incumbent Prayut Chan-o-cha.

 

Among the other candidates, the poll shows 5.10% for Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan of the Thai Sang Thai Party,4.45% for Thai Liberal Party Leader Pol Gen Sereepisuth Temeeyaves, 2.35% for Democrat Party Leader Jurin Laksanawisit,  1.60% for Pheu Thai Party Leader Cholnan Srikaew, 1.55% for Bhumjaithai Party Leader Anutin Charnvirakul and 1.40% for Chart Pattana Kla Party Leader Korn Chatikavanij.

Maybe so, but here in Thailand 15.65% trumps 38.20%

I know Thaksin' behind this, but I would have thought he may have had a bit more sense than to promote his daughter as PM....

She's most definitely not the sharpest tool in the box....but then, nor are his other 2 kids.

Did someone who actually studied statistics sneak into NIDA and accidentally conduct a real poll? They'll be sacked in the morning once the Great Leader looks into his NIDA mirror to ask "who is the fairest of them all?" and hears "Paetongtarn Shinawatr" in return.

Actually, there's no such thing as a real poll - any time or anywhere.

Yet, too many become sucked into this type of analyst.

She may be the favourite among the public but may not necessarily be the choice for the both Houses. Assuming Pheu Thai and Move Forward win big and negate the senate votes, it will still be a delicate political and economic adjustment after the election. Doubt Thaksin will have her untested daughter in such a fluid situation. Th coalition parties similarly not convince that Paetongtarn is ready for such a big job. Nevertheless she will be groomed for that position in the future.

You get the feeling that the powers that be would probably prefer Pheu Thai to win than a party like Move Forward. At least they know with Pheu Thai that okay they will lose money making opps for a few years, that Pheu Thai are not going to change anything major and actually stop corruption or the channels it is made, so they can rest easy about that.

 

If the MF or another unknown came to power, that is when it would get really alarming as they just would not know whether they would also be endlessly corrupt or would make genuine attempts to reform army/police/bureaucracy which at the end of the day is what simply will not be accepted.

Hopefully the Thais come to their senses.

That is incorrect. There are statistically significant and properly designed polls that eliminate or severely reduce bias if conducted properly. Then there is NIDA, the type of pollster whom those in power say "give me a poll with these results" and they tend to oblige.

Did anyone here actually think that any of those candidates will ever work for people?

Politicians work for themselves, and they are showmakers acting like their work is generous.

'ts all about the same everywhere.

Politicians are known to flip ever since creating of politics.

 

How many of you actually know that originally (for example, time of George Washington), governments are NOT even suppose to collect tax from citizens other than for emergency cause (however, the governments changed rule little by little, and we've been deceived to think that this is normal)?

 

Same with the current ***demic going on, people are brainwashed to think that wearing mask is normal.
